John Deere Model 285 Lawn Tractor

I've had this JD 285 for 28 years. Never failed to start and do the job.
Recently I started it and moved it 2 feet and it stopped running.
Did all normal troubleshooting like bypassing seat switch.
Still would not start. Pulled both spark plugs and noticed they where wet.
Reconnected them to their plugs and shorted them to engine block. Got back on seat and attempted to fire engine.
I observed no spark on either plug. Then I noticed the spark plugs where not actually touching engine block. I placed the PTO pedal down and locked it. Got off the seat held one spark plug with my hand against the engine block. When I turned the engine over I got a big shock and quickly let go of the plug.
Hey it's getting fuel and now I know the plugs are firing. Went to my JD dealer and purchased (2) new spark plugs. Installed them and my JD 285 runs like brand new. I guess spark plugs can't last forever.
My JD 285 has about 323 hours after 28 years. Not used to much.

I've noticed that since all gas has ethanol in it now, the spark plug fouling problem plagues all small engines.
