Tractor
2720 John Deere
I just bought my 2720 today! It will be delivered next week. I got loader, 60 inch mower, imatch (just for weight box...no more man handling) weight box. I replaced it with my my 4100 that was a great tractor. That was one of the reasons I stayed with Deere. I never have tryed the 2720 but Im sure I will see a difference in the two tractors (i hope) What do you owners of 2520 and 2720s think?

Even with a 2520 it's a heck of a lot of tractor for the size and price - the only way I could have been happier is if the 2720 was available when I bought it :D

This past month I've used the loader to clear out the bramble from my wife's new garden, used the forks to haul away some trees, used the backhoe to dig out the stumps (including one that's nearly as big as the tractor!), chipped the small branches, shredded the bramble, and tilled the field. All done ahead of schedule thanks to my green workhorse!

Congrats! You'll love it!

For me the 2520 is the perfect size!! Saturday I traded my 06 for a brand new 08. For what I do with mine, I couldnt justify the extra money to go with the 2720. I went from a 2210 to the 2520 and was a huge leap, so a 4100 to the 2520 or 2720 will be a leap too!!

Ya I really didnt need the 2720...but I did want something a little bit bigger than my 4100 (although that did everything I had ever asked) and it was about $1300 difference at my dealers for the 2520 to the 2720 ...so I just went with the 2720..Now two years of payments, and I wont be dipping back in for another tractor..hopefuly this one last a lifetime...thanks for you guys input!

I traded my 2305 that I bought last year, for a new 2720 this spring. I love it. The 2305 would bog while running the chipper, and the 2720 does not. Well worth it.

My wife and I have the 2520 FEL 62d mower deck w/ mid mount hydraulic lift. Bought it new in June 2007.

It is a nice machine, FEL does a good job for everything we needed it for. The 2520 has never run out of power, I keep it above an idle (1200-1500) with the loader, about 2200 rpm with the mower on. Now about the deck...........POS keeps falling out ............

What do you owners of 2520 and 2720s think?

I think you bought yourself a great tractor. Now comes the long wait.
Enjoy!

Hi Brian,
Good luck with the new tractor!
I traded my 2320 in for the 2720( got it end of March). I kept my front loader, 47" blower and my 46 backhoe. Lots more power is an understatement. Get the most power you can in a machine. By the way the new 2720 uses less fuel then the 2320 (check the specs). It's a better engine and has auto startup if you run out of fuel. You can feel the power when it starts. I thought I was on a much bigger tractor but I love the size of the 2000 series Deere tractors. I pull in hi gear up hills with the loader and hoe on with no trouble and it doesn't bog down when I turn on hydrolics. I just picked up an HC-60 Woods rotary cutter last week for my fields too. The mid mower deck is a pain in the butt when you have a backhoe so I traded in my 62D deck.
Best set up is get a zero turn to mow and let your tractor do the heavy stuff like rough fields if you can afford it.
I wonder why people don't just go for the 2720. When you have this thing for ten or fifteen years the price doesn't make much difference and the hydrolics run much better. Deere downplays the power but even with that check to see how much more you get at the PTO with the 2720 over the other 2's. I'm glad I went to the 2720 and not the 2520 from my 2320. Try them both and then tell me which one you'd rather have.

Bottom line all the 2's are great but the 2720 is the best of the lot, it's a great machine and it goes places the 3 series doesn't.

Rob
