07 toolcat
used 08 toolcat demo for about 8 hours with 6 foot finish mower, cut thru 3 and some 4 foot grass and weeks, alot of the tall stalks just laid down, were left mostly uncut even thou only going 1 to 2 miles an hour, would the 9 foot deck be deeper allowing these to be cut better, things went great other wise , still wondering about the new model with pto and 3 point hitch, also they didn't send brushcat, how does it work on toolcat compared to 6 foot finish deck, and how has tc done about needing repairs, with regular use does it hold up well thanks

I have learned from a number of posters on this site that the best results are obtained by cutting tall grass with the Brushcat followed by more frequent cuts using the mower. Gadgetnut could provide better information as he wrote about owning both units which allowed him to cut grass at different intervals. Or else you can search for his or others' posts on this topic on this site.

IMHO, finish mowers, regardless of brand, don't do well in tall grass and the bobcat mower is no different. Often the grass is stripped rather than cut and the tall grass is knock over and the blades can't create enough suction the lift and cut it. Tall grass needs a brushcat/bush hog type mower or flail mower.

i have both - 90 and brushcat - 90 is really like a zero turn mower deck - i use for the lawn and fields if cut before with brushcat. brushcat is a whole different tool - much too heavy for lawn and leaves ruts on soft but it is pretty much unstoppable. i would not rec the near finish mowers for regular field work.

I wonder about the 3 pt version/pto as well. I am starting to think it is all a dream. I am becoming a frequent toolcat poster and don't even own one. I do have CUTs and bobcat S300 skidsteer. I just have too many 3pt implements to justify a toolcat without a 3 pt.

I inquired three weeks ago about the 3PH and PTO on a Toolcat. The sales person, who had just returned from a Bobcat meeting, said that Bobcat was working on an option with about 20 to 23 PTO HP. He questioned the viability of the option, finding it a weak number to those working PTO attachments.

When I saw a 3 pt/pto prototype over a year ago (15 months to be exact), the pto hp was in the low 20's. Later I was told by someone at Bobcat who was developing the 3 pt version that it was increased to around 30 pto hp. 30 pto hp should be obtainable with a high flow toolcat but probably not at standard flow. There was a pto option on the toolcat a few models ago but I don't believe that is offered anymore. It was based on the standard flow model. The problem with hydraulic pto's is the loss of hp because of the inefficiency of a hydraulic motor.

I revisited your posts on this topic a moment ago, Radman1. I was armed with questions to the sales person based on those entries...so, a belated thanks to you and the others.

I am fortunate in that I do not own any PTO attachments and am starting fresh with, possibly, a Toolcat...a relatively more expensive yet worthwhile relationship.
