Koyker 160 Loader Wanted

A good friend of mine is shopping for a Koyker 160 loader. I figure it's a long shot, but the more places we look the better chance we have to find one I reckon.

For a good price we're willing to travel to get it.

It may not look like much, but he has a nice tractor with very little money in it, and a FEL would greatly expand what he can do with it.

You are one of many looking for a K-160. I've been looking now for 2 years straight.

It's a very popular one that fits many John Deeres, Yanmars, Mitsubishis, Hinomotos, and Isekis.

These are going new right now for $4,500. That's the best price I could find. So, several of us are looking for used up to $3,000 price.

ALSO, are you planning to use it like the pix, a REL ??? If so, there are way better price options for a REL. New, a REL goes for $2,500. Used about $1,200.

If rel stands for rear end loader, no...

That's just my BX parked behind it.

Wow, at first glance it looked like a REL. A bit confusing. LOL

Since you are in SC, there is a UTDA network that offers the K-160 new.

He's trying to see if he can find one used first. I think he's found it new, just feels like it's too expensive and worth more than the tractor. I disagree with him, as the tractor is in great mechanical shape and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than a new tractor with FEL. Especially that size.

When I bought my YM2610 in 2014, the K-160 loader 'new' was a mere $2,500+250 installation.

The K-160 is now over $4,500 new from the same place. So, I feel his pain as well. I've been kicking myself since 2017 for not grabbing it at $3,600. It's either that or buy a machine with the FEL K-160, remove it, and then sell the tractor it was attached onto to keep the cost down. Not an easy chore now since the rapid inflation has taken off in the used Ag machinery too.

So, as a backup plan, the REL is very attractive. Only the top link needs to be either manual release or a hydraulic type. The price is about 1/3 of a FEL. With 3PT quick disconnects, I can have it on and off in a heartbeat.

Here a Westendorf WR20 3PT 48-inch bucket REL. It went for a mere $250 at a Farm auction. It has a manual release, but adaptable to hydraulic top-link too.

It sure beats those old school pond/dirt scoops hands down

I appreciate the input. I passed the information along about the places he could purchase one close to home. He had located several locations, but they were all quite a drive. I secretly hope he just bites the bullet and purchases a new one. I think the tractor is worth spending the 4 or 5 grand on if he can come up with it.
