I recently snugged up my parking brake on the B2320. Maybe I tightened it too much. Before the adjustment, it was slipping when I set the brake on a slope. After adjusting, it stops immediately when I let off the HSD pedal. Is there such a thing as too tight, so that it may be engaged slightly while I am moving forward, and I am fighting against the brake when moving? Thanks for your help.

Jack the rear end up

Put In neutral

Spin the rear tires (make sure that it's in 2WD)

Should give you your answer.

Tires should spin with little resistance

I guess I assume the brake operation on your B Model is much the same as an L Model, if not disregard. On level ground or even a slight incline the hydro will stop the tractor when the pedal is released, no brakes required. As far as I know, there is no adjustment for the parking brake, only for the brake travel (both pedals) themselves. The parking brake is only a latch that holds the pedals down the same as if you mashed them with your foot.

Brake travel on an L3700 is .79 to 1.2 inches free travel.

Properly adjusted brakes, if applied while trying to move will cause the hydro to squeal. You lost me a bit in the last two sentences though. The tractor should stop when you release the HSD pedal unless you're on a steep slope. With the brake pedals depressed and the parking latch engaged it should not travel at all, even if in neutral. With the parking latch released and proper free travel on the pedal you're not fighting the brakes while moving.

OK, I will measure the free travel dimension to verify it is set right. It works fine but wanted to make sure I didn't have it too tight and was fighting the brake. Thank you.
