Recently I've purchased a well used Kubota b7100hst made in 1983, and among other things that could use a little work, I have some questions about the hydrostatic transmission. Please forgive my pathetic knowledge of the tractor, its the first good sized tractor I have owned. Now, when starting the tractor, I obviously am required to press the hydro disengage pedal on the left. But when the tractor is running, and I release the pedal, without touching the forward/reverse pedal on the right the tractor creeps forward, sometimes immediately and noticably, sometimes just barely. Is this normal? If it isn't, how easy is it to fix?

Also, I have a question about the 4wd lever. I assume its the larger, more accessible lever on the right. I've noticed there are three settings, the middle of which seems to be some sort of neutral for the tractor, as it doesn't move in this setting. I haven't had a chance to really get down and test each setting, so could one of you perhaps tell me which setting is 4wd, and which is 2wd? Thanks!

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it!

The pedal on left is the clutch. Even with the hydro you will still use this for PTO driven implements to engage/disengage. The creep can be taken out by adjusting the linkage found under the right foot rest. You'll see how it attaches to hydro pedal and figure it out from there. I think the lever your talking about is range selector for the H-N-L. Bear in mind that the B7100 has a 2 speed PTO also, for 540/1000. If yours has the mid PTO, the 1000 is also for it. The 4wd lever will be a 2 postion which would simply be 2wd-4wd. It's been too long since I've had mine to tell you the locations of each. You've got one tough little tractor that will simply amaze you as to what it will do. Very mizerly on fuel also!
I found this video on you-tube that shows the different levers and their purposes..

I have this tractor and I can safely tell you that the top lever is the lo-hi range lever, if the label is worn or missing you can quickly tell which is which by simply driving it and notice the change in ground speed.

The 4wd/2wd lever is directly below that and 4wd is the lowest position possible and 2ws at the top. Only 2 choices. You will love this tractor. I've had mine 10 years and just got it stuck for the first time this year. :)

Any other question on the b7100hst let me know, I inherited it and it's shop manual when I bought this house in 2000.

Enjoy!

On the transmission case behind a plug? and behind your right foot you will find a creep adjustment bolt.:D
