Mike, I talked another dealer here, the one from whom I have bought two tractors, and I am POSITIVE he and the other dealer are giving me the straight scoop. The discount is actually called a "settlement allowance". It is national not regional. The settlement allowances in the past have been quite small but they are currently $800 on Grand L and $150 on the loaders. In the past, settlement allowances may have been available to be passed through to customers only for cash sales or for financing under Kubota credits less favorable terms. That means, the settlement allowances may not have been available with the the most favorable interest rate terms.
The first dealer I spoke to felt sure that the allowance was available in conjunction with the 6.5% rate for 5 years; second dealer seemed less sure which rate the settlement allowance could be used in conjunction with. I also got the distinct feeling from both dealers that aall dealers may not point the settlement allowance out to customers. In other words they might give a good discount off list and keep the settlement allowance themselves. Its possible that if you say you want the settlement allowance passed through, they would then say that we must charge 3% more for the tractor, or whatever. Candidly, I never heard about settlement allowances from the two dealers I speak to until I asked pointed questions and they realized I knew what I was talking about. HMMMMMMM.
