Greetings fellow tractor owners,

(darn it feels good to finally be able to say that) This may have been covered in an earlier discussion so if it has I apologize for the duplicity. The dealer I purchased my tractor from is about 4 hours away and I discovered that they had missed the 300 hour service schedule. After checking their records they apologized and we agreed upon them sending me all the needed filters and fluids plus extras to compensate me. I was told that a 5 gal. container of the hst fluid is $88 through the dealer (n/c to me). I called the local Farm N Fleet and theirs is $30. I know there are probably different grades of hst fluid so I wondered if anyone out there could let me know if I need to get the OEM fluid next time through Kubota or if there are other places/brands I can use. Thanks for any replies I get. This website is a godsend for a newbie like myself.

My manual states to use Kubota SUDT and since it isn't changed that often, I just pay the extra especially after paying that much for a tractor. There may not be any difference, but I'm not willing to take the chance.

This issue has been beat to death in other threads if you wanted to search for them. Since I don't that much about the difference in oils, I stick with what the book says.

Sounds like the dealer is recomending SUDT. It is a better year round fluid than most, if your tractor ist HST or GST I would go with the SUDT. If it's not than you have more options, but use a good name brand that is compatible and equivalent to the Kubota UDT.

I changed out regular transmission fluid to SUDT at the 50 hour service point. I immediately noticed less whine from the HST although hydraulic leak down increased some what. I recommend using SUDT. For me it is the high temperature properties that are important. With the value of my tractor I am going to protect it by using the best maintenance I can.

From looking at specs. Super UDT and UDT it looks like Regular UDT has better protection in hot weather. Where Super UDT protects better is in the cooler temperatures.

Properties listed for Kubota UDT are:
Viscosity @100°C, cSt 9.5
Viscosity @ 40°C, cSt 60.0
Pour Point, C° max -35

Properties listed for Kubota Super UDT are:
Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt 9.00
Viscosity @ 40°C, cSt 45
Pour Point, C° max -46

Chevron Synthetic All-Weather THF holds up much better in hot weather and in high stress work loads then Kubota Super UDT.

Chevron Synthetic All-Weather THF has better specs. then Kubota UDT and Super UDT. I switched to Chevron Synthetic All-Weather THF a month ago and my Kubota B7500 performs much better. So much in fact I brought all my Super UDT that had less than 10 Hours of use to a recycling center.

If you want to stay with a Kubota HST fluid in Hot Weather I would recommend Regular UDT over Super UDT.
