I posted this over in the Kubota forum but haven't seen any responses. I apologize if cross-posting is bad--feel free to delete/move if appropriate. I just really want to get some input on this problem:
My 1987 L2250 has been overfilled with THD for at least 17 years (long story, not interesting). For the last month or so it's had probably 3 gal too much THD in it. But it's been working great, although with this last overfill I noticed some leakage at the lower transmission fill area, but didn't worry about it. I realized the tractor had too much THD and assumed this was a overflow...
Today when using the tractor to do some raking the power steering and hydraulics quit working. Also the engine was running a bit hotter than normal and smelling. FLuid was leaking out of the lower fill cap. When we pulled the cap the fluid poured out like from an artesian well.
Realizing it was over-full, we drained the THD down to the "h" mark on the sight glass, and started the engine. Power steering was restored but not the FEL or 3-pt hydraulics.
I will check the QD fittings tomorrow (just found a post on that here a minute ago) but is there anything else I should look at before I send it off to the dealer for repairs? Could this be a filter/screen issue? The fluid and filter have not been changed since I got it (ok, I'm a bad boy). I LOVE my tractor and am practically in tears because it's broken... it's my favorite tool.
