I mentioned my brother got the tractor bug and was zeroing in on a L3200 hst with backhoe for his 65 acres.

Last Wednesday, he made a Saturday appointment to compare/buy a 2013 L3200 or B3300.

These are harvest returns with full factory warranty and the Dealer does about 150 Harvest Returns each season.

We arrived at the Dealer a 9 am and introduced ourselves and asked to see the L3200... Dealer said he sold the last one Friday night.

They all had between 120 and 150 hours and priced at 21,000 with loader and backhoe... told him it was a good deal to get the L because of what he needed to do.

Dealer said he still has the B3300 which are more expensive than the L

We ended up leaving without a tractor and he's kind of back to square one.

Really wanted to buy local...

I know he was disappointed... anything similar around that price point anyone can recommend?

Sounds like a good deal. New L3200 price for a slightly used one + a free hoe. Might be used harder than normal being a rental, but still tempting if you could have gotten it.

Checking with other dealers on Monday... the central valley makes for a lot of lease returns.

Seems sales spiked for tier 3 with the tier 4 price increase and added complexity.

I told him not to worry... he can use my Deere 110 till he finds something suitable...

I'm assuming you were at Big Valley Tractor/Central Bobcat just by your description of them doing 150 lease returns a season. Last time I was by there the back lot was full of lease returns but it's been a couple months since I've driven past. Been in the store a few times since then, but coming from the south I haven't seen the lot. They are good guys in there, I've done a lot of business with them over the past few years.

No... Dolk in Rio Vista... it's the closest to the ranch... I mentioned you to my brother... told him machine shop on wheels if he ever needs one.

Might not be a bad idea to check with Big Valley and Green Valley on Abernathy.

Thanks for the reminder.

Yeah it isn't that much further if he comes across Hwy 12. The only machines I've been involved in buying through them have been Bobcat's, but have bought a lot of Kubota parts there. Their parts and service departments seem easy to deal with.

What's your take on the tier 4 final emmisions???

Besides the price increases... is this something that will affect longevity and reliability?

I was really surprised to see the 350 gallon totes of DEF behind the tractor dealerships...

I would keep shopping there's still L3200 and L3800 out there my local dealer still has three l3800dt left . Another dealer 60 miles away still has a whole lot full .

Look a little father away heck when I was shopping for my m7040 I shopped 300 miles away found the best deal there . But ended up making a dealer 60 miles away beat it . So I bought 60 miles away .

I'd expect some growing pains as with any first year implementation. Being a dozen plus years removed from the dealership I haven't seen any in my world yet.

I'd keep shopping for an L3200. That must be some salesman to sell 150 return tractors before you got to the lot. My local Kubota dealer had one washed and ready when I called to say I was coming over to look. The fact he was to rude to call and tell you he peddled your tractor out from under you after you called and made an appointment,,,,,,,,,screams,"BUY elsewhere" to me.

Brother bought a 92 hour L3800 harvest return from another dealer...

Tractor, Loader, Hoe, box-blade, top and tilt, quick attach, pallet forks at a fair price... supposed to be delivered in a few days... just waiting on the boxblade.

The L3200 salesman was actually the owner and we arrived on time Saturday morning... brother just could not get away Thursday or Friday.. so the appointment was made for Saturday.

Dealer has since called to apologize and said he has an L3800 coming in which is what we had just bought in the neighboring county...
