KubotaL3400
I have a kubota L3400 that is 2005 year model and it only runs about 30 seconds then dies. I have changed the fuel filter and had no luck, i have changed the engine fuel solenoid that turns the fuel off if a safety device trips. I can turn the key on and not start the tractor and in about 30 seconds the fuel solenoid clicks and will not allow me to start the tractor, if i turn the key and immediately starts the tractor it will start and run for about 30 seconds. Has anyone experienced this... Thanks

Sounds like a clogged fuel filter or fuel line to me.

I have a L3700SU..basically the same as yours just a newer version. Look at your fuel filter and make sure it is full. If it's not, look at kinked lines from the tank and go forward to the filter. If the filter is full, look at safety switches. I just had to replace my neutral safety switch.. the tractor would intermittently shut off..then when I tried to start it, ..sometimes I would turn the key, hear the solenoid click..but no starter turn over.. If I rocked the hydrostatic pedal forward and back etc.. the tractor would start.. super easy fix that cost 60.00 and took 15 minutes.. maybe yours could be the same thing

shootemup604, did the neighbor say which switch it was?

I have an 09 L3400, my seat safety switch broke, lucky for me in the position so it always works regardless of seat position. I'm thinking its one of the safety switches. The seat one from what I understand has three positions. 1-seat down with weight (eng runs/starts) 2- seat down no weight (eng shuts off with PTO engaged) 3- seat leaned forward (eng runs) this is for if you have something that needs PTO power but not you sitting on tractor (backhoe, generator, wood chipper ect). I believe the PTO switch also runs in series with this switch so you can't start tractor with PTO engaged

I'd say it's fuel, or lack thereof, or you wouldn't get 30 seconds of run before it quits. A bad switch would either not start at all, or the time would vary greatly depending on contact in the switch.

Does your tractor have a clear sight bowl you can actually see fuel ? IF it isn't completely full when the tractor dies, you aren't getting fuel from the tank.

That can be:

-Tank obstruction (happened to me several times)....allows a dribble of fuel, but not enough to keep it running. You have something floating around in your tank blocking the outlet.

-Failed booster pump. With key 'on', do you hear a ticking noise....that is a little electric booster pump many tractors use to move fuel forward to the main engine injector pump. If you don't hear it running, check to see if your tractor uses one (generally located near the fuel tank), and if yours has quit.

Kinked or restricted line. Take the line off at various points....make sure you have a good flow of fuel at each.

TnAndy, I do have a clear fuel bowl and it is staying full. I need to check on that booster pump because I have never heard one ticking.

Thanks

My neighbor had the clutch safety go most recently. The seat safety has been taped up for years due to the same issue.
