yeah you should do the servicing yourself, of course you do have to crawl under the tractor and get yourself dirty but its not complicated, i am a total klutz and i do it myself.
Keep a cardboard box and break it down or maybe a rug. Lay it on the ground. Get some cheap brown disposable cotton gloves and ............not even get dirty.:D

John, my wife and I use to use the brown jersey gloves, but have started using surgical gloves especially while draining fluids. My kids bought me a low slung creeper for Christmas which works pretty well, but will also use cardboard if I have any around.

bigbull, I know you are a lot younger than I, but I have concluded that a small child is about the handiest thing you can have while doing these sorts of things and two are even better. I am good for about one trip down onto my creeper and one trip up. Since we don't gave any kids handy, my wife is my "helper" and she is somewhat less than fascinated with the whole process though she likes saving the money. If your marriage can survive building a new house and/or tractor maintenance, it can handle just about anything.

Now you're talkin'!!!! There's nothing better than having one the young guys do the work and we do the talking and the pointing and saying, "Good Job".

I've got some of the surgical gloves and plan to use them next time. I mentioned the brown cottons because about all Flea Markets have them for 25 to 50 cents a pair. I buy them by the bundle and save a few pennies. One or two uses and they're wore out.

they did say that it had break in hydrolic oil in it.an if it got slow or stopped lifting that the oil had gotten to thick an it was time to change it.

we filled tractor with the cheap stuff thinking you would not notice the difference.....I noticed after doing the 50 hour myself that there really is a difference.

Do the service yourself and if HST or GST use SUDT if it gear just use UDT and that way you know it is done right.

If the Mx5100HST is like my L3400HST, and I bet it is, you will need for your 50 hour change the Hydrostat filter, the Hydraulic filter and an Oil filter, your engine oil, and a quart or 2 of SUDT to make up for any spilled when you change the hydro and Hydraulic filters. Also calls for chassis greasing several zerks. You dont change out the SUDT Hydraulic/hydro oil until 400 hours. Now I know some guys do actually change out Hydraulic oil at 50, it is up to you, but I am going by what the manual says to do. it is not real hard, dont forget the oil pan (at least on mine) has 2 drain plugs, check your manual, but The SUDT is the same in it now as what you would put in it.. there is no mention of "break in fluid". Good luck

..... and a quart or 2 of SUDT to make up for any spilled when you change the hydro and Hydraulic filters .....

I don't know if my dealer used UDT or SUDT when prepping my tractor. Would it be a problem adding the 1 or 2 quarts of SUDT if he originally used UDT?
