Greetings. Anyone out there who can explain the difference(s) in these engines? Thanks in advance.
You are spot on Ptsg, this is exactly the difference, while these are the same base block design - "a1700" but will have different specs depending on which unit they were powering. "N2","N3" etc. Most likely HP ratings and/or revisions made over the years. I know mine has a A1700N4 engine which is 35HP. The A1700N6 is used on the 2515 with 25HP. The A1700N3 seems to fit the 3015 model with 30 HP, although, I've seen the A1700N5 being listed for this one as well.
These engines have different fuel settings in the injection pump and may or may not have different injectors too.
Excellent research Asteral, I really appreciate it!yes if your engine tag is showing a1500n2 that is the model you have equipped, now just to verify this i went into the old parts lookup( provided to for the 3120r model and the engine model it lists for me is also the A1500N2-R, states it was in production between 07-26-2010 all the way up to 06/12/2012, then they made a switch to the A1700N2 model engine , the more recent version of the A1500 is something i wasn't aware of, but most likely it is a redesign of the original A1500 block being used on your model currently
And other than the slight displacement delta between the A15 & A17 I'm guessing there are probably many interchangeable parts but now that I know the score I can ask my dealer all that.
