Hi all, I have 5 acres with horses...tractor mostly for arena dragging, but want to get most bang for buck and not feel like in a year I will want to do something else and tractor is too small. I am in California. New from Dealer L2800HST R4 Industrial tires $15,700 tractor 463 loader $4100 for total of $19800 before tax. B3200HST new with loader is $19,300 before tax. Rental return qualify for zero percent financing L3240 is $16,800 the 724 loader is another $5000 before tax.
Do these seem high?
Also in the paper is a 2004 B7800 with 270 hrs, loader and boxscrapper for $11000. 1 owner

The last one is $23000
2007 KUBOTA ,L3830HST-F,39 horsepower(Diesel),4WD,3 range hydrostatic drive trans.,canopy top. Kubota, LA723 loader,SSL quick attach,72" H/D bucket+ edge. Kubota,BH90 Backhoe,Subframe mount,12" bucket,9' foot. Check Kubota .com for more specs and features. Very low 295 hours dealer serviced.

So on the used I will have no warranty and will have to pay cash but there is no sales tax if private party. Not sure how much last one is new.

My only concern about the B7800 is tha it will not drag arena implements as well as the heavier machines.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

How heavy are the things you are dragging? The B7800 is a great little tractor and I am amazed at what I can do with it. I also have an L4350 which is a brute to which I compare the baby K to. $11000 is not a bad price, plus they don't make them any more and a low hour tractor such as what you describe will be harder and harder to find.

My friends B7800 -she has an arenavater attached to the back and it does not dig too deep so she weights the attachment down with a cement weight. Periodically, maybe use a harrow. But mostly drag a nice arena groomer implement. Her arena is dirt, not sand and mine will be too so I don't know if that's why. We have a ton of rocks and I will use FEL to move them to a sifter. We are just so new to this that I hate to under buy cuz my husband is a you buy it you keep it person,,,so there will be no trading up

One of your options had a backhoe, do you need that? One of the members here had a unique angle on buying: Look at the implements you need and what you want to do and buy the tractor that fits that. Fantastic perspective!
If you have a lot of rocks, then you should probably get the biggest loader you can, how big are they? Do more research before you buy! A heavier tractor with more HP will pull more in a higher gear if that makes a difference in your arena dragging.

I'm not sure if this will help but our neighbor has an L3400 gear. They have 45 acres and it seems to work well but at times they have take many passes at something that a bigger tractor could do in one. However they also have horses and for dragging the arena and other chores they say its the best. The size is just right as is the weight.

I offered to help with my L3240 in the arena and it was too big and the weight didn't help any either. I've helped them with other chores and that is when the size and weight was a benefit. Plus the loader capacity on the 3240 was a big help.

I bet you would like the L2800.

Good Advice gang. No, I probably don't need the backhoe, although it sounds fun! And yes, I drove the L2800 and liked it. I was originally afraid the L series would be too big but when I drove it I was fine. That's how I got to thinkin if I can handle the L2800 the L3400 is the same but with more power.

However, realistically if the B7800 for 11k will do the job is that my best bet?

Lastly in CA what should I pay for a new B3200 HST, L2800 HST or L3400HST

Thanks

You should pay the lowest price... to the best dealer. Not sure how to answer that other than to say ask several dealers. From the sounds of it, I think you may be in Northern CA, Redding area maybe. I just know that rocks are plentiful up there in neighboring Palo Cedro. Call Sacramento Tractor and talk to Ron Adams. Also Woodland tractor is having a big sale this weekend on harvest returns. I am always amazed a how much you can get out of the smaller tractors.
