L3130 vs L3830

need some input on these two models,looking at a possible purchase on the L3130,whats a fair price? how does everyone like there tractor,what would you do differently? your input is appreciated. A dealer referrence would be great also.

I bought an L-3130 HST with 723 loader in July and I love it.

I didn't consider the 3830 because the 3130 was already much bigger than the B-7800 that I was originally considering. Some folks like the extra power provided by the L-3830, but for me the L-31030 is enough for what I need.

I bought mine from Woodbury tractor in CT. Bob Wolf the owner is great. I would recommend him. I actually was referred to him by other TBNers who were satisfied customers.

Bob gets his tractors from Messick's Farm Eqiuipment in Pennsylvania, so if you bought from him you may not have to pay sales tax. My purchase order actually shows Messicks as the selling dealer.

My price included a lot of extras, Woods 60 mower, toothbar, post hole digger, so my total $ is probably not useful for comparison. Bob will give you a good price.

I love my L3130, but I've only got 18+ acres. If your bio is right, you've got 60 and I think you'd be better served with the L3830. Of course if it's mostly woods and you only have a few acres to cut, then the baby grand will do just fine. For me, I have my sights set on another 18 or so acres just behind me. If that becomes available I'll still be looking good as I'll be running cattle and will not be cutting that often. But if I had to cut the whole shabang on a regular basis then I'd want a bigger unit. I'm a firm believer in looking at the acreage you'll need to cut at one time, not the total acreage. I can't envision needing to cut more than 5 acres at a time on my property - so the L3130 works fine.

Prices vary greatly, but mine was $19,200 with LA723, HST, R4's, 5' Bush Hog Squeeler 600, Bush Hog SX720 Box Blade, and delivery (about 60 miles one way). I didn't have to pay sales tax as the purchase was Ag exempt.

I just came from Kahn's in Franklin bought a L3130HST with 723 loader HD bucket BH90 Backhoe R4 tires filled with rim guard some extra filters welded hooks on bucket . Jean was very nice and easy to deal with .Now I just have to wait about 2 weeks !!!! Ct 1-800-327-5246 . This is the same price I was given by Woodbury Tractor but Kahns is only 25 miles away .

Thanks for the feed back. This is for someone other than myself who has approx 5 acrs or so to maintain and has a small older Kubota now,looking at something a little newer and larger. Thanks for the reply's,helpful as usual. Lloyd-

I really like the L3130 (insert Gomer Pyle voice - "Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!). /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Takes me about 2 and a half hours to cut the five acres I have sectioned off. If all I had was 5 acres I might go smaller - but not much. This unit works great as an "Estate" mower when coupled to a mid mount mower and turf tires. Also perfect for stables and the like where too small defeats the purpose as much as too large does.

I would also consider going smaller for only 5 acres. My old B1750 did fine in my 7 acre meadow. I only moved up to the L3010 because of my need to drag trees home for firewood. The 3130/3830 have significant mass that is generally not needed by estate tractors.
