Hummm...changed the UDT on mine this weekend...drained about 7 gallons...new filter....added the prescribed 7.3 gallons, and still no level in the sight window....yes sitting on level ground. She has a slight growl when you use the loader..empty and turn...about how much should be added when a loader is installed?...When I went to pick it up, I have fluid shown in the window, but didn't run the loader, could the dealer have forgot to add extra to make up for the new capasity? If so, how much more should I add?
Thanks!

BWSSR,
I have no idea on how much your machine holds. However, I have found that mine holds a SIGNIFICANT amount more of both engine and hydraulic oil. Example - my op manual says 11 quarts engine oil - it actually takes 14 to bring it to the full mark. Hydraulic oil says 59 quarts - it takes 64 quarts to fill it. Its like they figured capacities by calculation rather than actual measurement. Fill your hydraulic oil to the level indicated in the OP manual. Use the prescribed amount as a beginning suggestion. If its not visible in the sight window then its not full.

Make sure you havent overfilled it..On level ground. raise the loader and dump the bucket, and raise the three point and look at the sight glass. See if you can see any fluid. Look for a bubble up top. The fluid is so clear when it is new, it is very difficult to see in the glass. It is possible you overfilled it already. Of course it is possible you don't have enough too.. I don't know why they could not have put a dipstick in instead of the stupid sight glass. Some guys have put the John Deere red dye in their's just for this reason.

Excellent point kuua. Not having a sight glass I never thought of an overfill. I know - even old fluid can be difficult to see on a dipstick - new is a lot more difficult. Of course, seeing oil on dipsticks has nothing to do with these old eyes. I've even been known to insert a dry chop stick and then compare it to the dipstick.

when I filled first round...I had a level(line)...once I started it up, ran the loader and PTO and even turned the steering...she "whined".......did this a few time, warmed her up some...set all down and checked 30 or so minuets later....no level....will the red dye void the 'bota warranty?

Thanks so far...and my buddy has a 70 hp and it has a stick..but you can't see the fluid on it!

I suppose you could unscrew the sight glass... If nothing runs out, then screw it back in and add some fluid

Just had another thought. Maybe your eyesight is like mine!!! Have a friend look at the sight glass. Ha,ha - no, just kidding. Some times I wish you could check oil level by touch. You know - once you get this figured out and get the level adjusted correctly you can make your own dipstick to use in the fill port. This could be an easier method if the sight glass is proving so difficult.

Park the tractor slightly down hill and see if you can see the level. If no luck then park it uphill and look. I had the same problem when I changed mine and it was over filled.

I use a flashlight and reading glasses. Still hard to see!

If I park mine slightly downhill the sight glass is full and crystal clear, looks empty. Slightly uphill and it is empty.

Once it's right there's not much need to look again, unless you have a leak.
