L3350 just clicks when trying to start sometimes it starts though

L3350 just clicks when trying to start. Sometimes it starts but mostly it just clicks or no click at all. any advice please help thanks

Clean and tighten both ends of the battery ground cable, good place to start.

Low voltage is the first place to start.
Clean cables. Take them off the battery and clean them good. Both ends of each cable.

If you keep on turning the ignition does it start eventually? If so you have a bad spot on the stator and need a new stater.

We had similar issues with a 1986 L2850 a few years ago, ended up replacing the whole starter including solenoid.

Yes could well be the armature has a bad spot. The brushes might need replacing. The solenoid contacts might be cruded up. Need do some voltage checks at the solenoid and then its output to the starter motor. If no output there but there was an input its bad solenoid contacts. If there is a healthy 12 volts at the starter motor it ought to run. If not probably brushes or armature or motor.

My grandpas L3800 does the same thing. He took it back to the dealer to fix it.

OP looks like a "One Post Wonder", but will add my similar problem was a safety switch on the hydro pedal that needed a little adjustment.
