I have recently sold my M5040 Cab tractor and am now looking at either a L3940 or L4240 cab tractor.

The tractor will primarily be used for bushogging and mowing.

I will be ordering the tractor with AG tires, Loader, QA Coupler, Bucket, 3rd Function valve, and 2 rear remotes.

I will be using a 6' Bushog, as well as my Woods RM990 mower. The 6' bushog wieghs around 900lbs, and the RM990 weighs around 1300lbs.

I am leaning towards the L4240 Cab, but wondered it you thought the L3940 Cab would be able to handle the RM990?

Thanks,

Stu

I bought the L3940 because it could be mmm equipped. 2 years later, I realize that I will probably never get a mmm because I like my rfm very well. I run a 6' rfm and 6' bush hog, no problems. Will a 7.5' rfm be too much load on L3940? Can't say. If I had do it all over, I would get the L4240 now, but I have no regrets with my L3940. Philip.

Check the specs at www.Kubotausa.com...both have the same three point lift capacity..2760lbs.Biggest advantage to the L4240 is the FEL(854) more capacity there.Larger front axel.I like my L4240,a friend has a L3940 both are nice.About the same size.

I would go with the 4240, more hp plus the biggest advantage is the stronger loader.

The loader thing comes up quite often. On paper the L4240 loader is more powerful than the L3940 loader, but there is nothing that I have not been able to lift with my bucket. I see the L4240 loader advantages as, digging deeper, lifting higher, and able to leave quick attached sub frame on and use loader at same time. Philip.

Stu. Get the 4240 cabed tractor. I had one. Heavier FEL. Great machine. Lots of power. I did trade mine for one with more PTO HP. Had no issues with the 4240 the cab was really hot in the winter and freezing in the summer.

As is often the opinion around these parts, the bigger machine is always better, with few exceptions!

I'd get the L4240. Both would probably perform fine, but come the day that you want to sell it, the L4240 will bring substantially more than the L3940. Crossing the elusive 40HP barrier puts you in a completely different price range in the used market.

I am sure you know as much or more than I about tractors and implements, but after looking at all of them, my wife and I decided we would prefer the 4240 to compensate for the HP lost to the cab. We found a great used 5030 the day we went to order it, so that is the way we went.

I am sure either will work fine.

Thanks for all the inputs.

After reviewing the specs I am going to go ahead with the L4240.

I like the idea of the bigger loader and although either would do fine with the 6' bushog, I just think the more pto power of the L4240 will be a better fit for my RM990.
