I just purchased a L4400 which I really love. The only problem is there is no place to stow tools except for a klenex sized toolbox behind the seat. I have found a place for my chainsaw, bungied to the left side if the drivers seat. Does anyone else have ideas of where to put various tools?

This probably won't suit you (because I dont think you have crossbars) but this was my solution. I just bolted two 'L' shaped shelf brackets to an old toolbox, then bent the brackets into a hook shape that I could wedge between the loader cross bars. Its not pretty, but functionally it's perfect. Very easy to get at. Holds glasses, gloves, WD40, rag, tin can (to sit on the exhaust at night) and a few tools in easy reach without me having to twist and turn to get at it. Its quite secure but it lifts off easily to raise the hood. It doesn't obscure the view at all, in fact I hardly even notice its there when I'm driving. In this position its REALLY handy and gets used ALL the time. Its not just a bit of emergency storage space. (One benefit of having an old tractor is that you don't worry about what things look like or how you are going to attach them. You just go with what works).

I did something similar...basically built a tray on my loader crossbar that can hold a variety of stuff. I did not want to drill the crossbar so I just built an oak tray and then fastened it by wrapping galvanized sheet metal around the bar.

The first picture is the tray holding a toolbox.
Second pic is tray holding chain saw gas/oil.
Third pic is of an ATV chainsaw holder that I attached to the ROPS.
Fourth pic is a hat hook on the other side of the rops for my chainsaw helmet.

The stuff on the rops is attached through the holes that hold the rops bolt when rops is folded - so no drilling or anything there either.

I removed the fannie flag and bolted a tool box there. It has held up real good

Besides a tool box, Ya need a place to carry chains. See my previous post for lights on L3400, pics show PVC pipe on left ROPS frame clamped with a stainless steel clamp.

I don't know what shape the ROPS on your tractor is, but here are some pics of a toolbox bracket that I'm working on for my B7800 that fastens to the ROPS using the ROPS mounting bolts. The vertical piece is 4" x 4" x 1/8" square tube and the top 15" is a chain box.The bracket to hold the toolbox is welded onto the bottom of the square tube.

If functionality is all your after, how about this. Take steering wheel off, mount fitting on bottom of tool box to fit steering shaft, insert box on shaft. Put your favorite spinner knob on box and you are good to go.:D :D

I love it. But how about this. A whole bunch of pockets hanging from the steering wheel. Like those tool belts that real tradesman wear. Who wouldn't want one?
