I've got a L5740 and I normally move round bales around without issue (prob 1k lbs). However, I'm looking to get some rubber arena footing in 2000lbs super sacks. They can send on a semi with or without a gate. I keep a barrel filled with concrete on the 3pt as my balast, as well as fluid filled tires. Wanted to get some real world input on being able to lift a 2k pallet either A: off the back of a semi, or B: simply off the ground and traveling up my drive with it (I'll have to unload at the road).

I see that I'm right around the weight limits of the loader. above 2k at the pin, below at 22inches out. Thanks!

If you’ve got the LA854 loader and sufficient ballast it should be doable. If you’ve got the smaller 724 loader you might have to take a couple hundred pounds off by hand.

I have the same 854 loader, loaded R1s and a heavy implement on back;I think you are close to max lift;it might do it.I would pump up the front tires to max pressure and be careful.

I’d imagine you could get them off the truck if they are on pallets. If you have to lift with a strap then maybe not.

Thanks. Yeah, itç—´ the 854 loader. Loaded R4s too. Front tires are rated for 3k Lbs each.
Low and slow is the plan. I just realized I have a 300 galllon water tote. I値l have to put 240gallon in and test - although the sloshing will make it worst when testing the trip up the drive.

Something to remember if you can't lift the pallets when they arrive you can sometimes get them off the back of the truck by curling the pallet all the way back toward the tractor if possible without spilling the load. Found this out on my previous tractor with some pallets of stone. Would not lift them but was able to get them off the flatbed deck by curling back. This got them in the air a few inches so I could back them off.

I have an L5240 HSTC with filled rears (R4) with Rim guard. With my rear blade on for ballast (600lbs?) I am able to lift 2000 lb pallets of bagged cement from the bed of my pickup and move them around with my QA forks. I move very slowly and carefully. But I do have R4's, not R1's, and they are capable of much higher loading levels. I wasn't sure it would do it at first, but it did. It is pushing it on the limits.

I had a L5740 and it would not lift a pallet with 2,000 pound tote of seed wheat. Best I could do from ground level was get it light enough to slide along the gravel floor where we were storing it. However that was from ground level. There more be more mechanical advantage at height to unload from the truck, lower pallets down, and then move them down the road. I’d want to stop close to ground level because you might not be able to raise again based on my experience. Our totes were seed wheat and at the price we had to pay, were very accurately weighed so it was pallet weight plus tote sack weight plus 2,000 pounds wheat. Being on a pallet pushes the CG over 1.5 feet in front of the pins where lift capacity is often rated.

And no worry about front tire capacity if you have R4’s. Tire book says add 70% to the sidewall rating for speeds less than 5mph and with a ton up front, you won’t want to set any speed record.

good to know! I edited my post, as I do have R4s, not R1s. I'm feeling better about this now. thanks!
