Just wondering how everyone liked their L3830 with FEL. I've been happy with mine, but a little disappointed in the power. However, I'm thinking I am expecting too much. It performs well with the loading, but any digging takes some finesse because it stalls out.

With fluid in the rear tires, the FEL will not lift the back of the tractor off of the ground. Every tractor I've been on, would lift the rear of the tractor off of the ground if you weren't careful. I know this is probably a good thing and is how it is suppose to be set, but it seems to stall out a little too easily. Just wondering if it was really set correctly.

A neighbor has the same setup and had to take his back. It would not lift a full load of gravel. He was told it needed to be adjusted. Just wondering if anyone has encountered the same thing.

Thanks,
Dave

I have the same issue with LA723 Loader on my L3830. It seems to have fairly limited breakout force.

This is my first tractor so I thought it was an issue of my technique. But now that you posted I wonder if it is an adjustement issue.

My dealer said they would bring a gauge with them, when they came to install the tooth bar. He said it should stall at 2100 psi, I believe. If it doesn't, then they can adjust the relief valve.

I'll keep everyone updated. However, I may not know anything for another week or so.

Thanks,
Dave

LA 723 spec calls for 2605 lbs @ bucket lip breakout and 2630 max. psi. Also 3620 lbs rollback at ground level. Both seem pretty respectable. Newer loader designs seem to stick out beyond the front wheel further than the old ones. That would work against you when comparing to older loaders.

Greater dump/rollback angles are also changing the geometry somewhat over old loaders. I would think that it is not unusual for the pressure to be off after the first XX hours of use. Certainly get it checked. I did not fill my tires and can get the back end up some even with a 1000lb boxscraper on back. I've been curious about filling my tires but must also admit really not feeling the need to do it. My traction is really great on my soil type which is primarily decomposed granite. Let us know what you find out. I should also think the PSI should be adjusted up at the spec as mentioned to 2600 PSI area.

I've got an L3430 with a 723 FEL. 130 hours with lots of loader work. The FEL has performed flawlessly. I moved a 30 year old mound of approximately 100 cubic yards of heavy black top soil that had overgrown with box elder trees, some 6" in diameter. I regularly had the backend off the ground (no fluid in tires but 7' BB). When I rooted out the tree stumps, I was fearful of permanently twisting the loader frame, but no problem. Great FEL!

I'd like to hear how this turns out too. I don't lift my back end off the ground, but I have filled tires, so I did not really expect it to lift the rear off the ground. I would like to see it have more lifting power though.

Glad you asked the question.
I've wondered about the lifting performance on my 723.
This is my first loader, so I don't have anything to compare it to.
Let us know what you find out.

What RPMS do you guys usually run during hard FEL work?

Depends on what I'm doing, 1900 to 2100 RPM is pretty typical. I like to run at as low a speed as I can.
