LA723 loader on L3830 performance?

Seems like if it has proper pressure but low flow, the loader would work but with a slow cycle time. (?) And if there is a flow restriction, wouldn't the loader cycle slowly even without much load on it?

Dave:

I just bought an L3130 GST w/ LA723 FEL & HD QA bucket. I experienced loader problems very soon after I put it to work. Debris was present in the cylinders as received from the manufacturer, and it ate away at the cylinder pistons causing blow-by. It's now two free oil changes and five free cylinders later, and it looks like the problem has been resolved. You might ask your dealer to inspect the filter for unusually high debris. Just a thought.

Good luck. Problems with a new tractor are very frustrating.

If your Kubota is under warranty and you adjust the relief valve yourself, please never mention it to your dealer.

Kubota and their dealers will deny warranty on almost any hydraulic failure if they find out that you have done this adjustment yourself.

Some times the only way to prove something is not right to a dealer is to show them the difference by looking at a new model on thier lot. Do they have another one on thier lot, or do you know of another LA723 loader in your area that you could compare to?

Whenever you get a brand new tractor and FEL, it is imperative to change out the hydraullic filter within the first 50 hours of use to catch any metal particle contamination, the hydraulic pumps are easily scored if not. Sounds like you had major contamination however and this may not have prevented the cylinder scoring problems you experienced.

Pat,

Can you tell us something about the Anbo Grapple? I went to their web site Anbo Grapple and they look pretty impressive. I need a grapple, so I have been looking at the choices.

How expensive? Does it mount on skid steer hitch or the quick attach? How heavy and what capacity?

I just got my tractor back. They completed the 50 hour service on it and it had 65 hours on it, so I didn't miss it by much. They verified the pressure was ok and the flowcheck was fine. They have returned it, but want it back to add some shim kit Kubota is sending them.

It seems a little better, but not that much. I guess I wanting too much out of it.

I don't know of anyone who has one on their lot right now. A neighbor of mine had the same issue with his new 3830. I've been meaning to stop and see if he ever got his resolved.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Pat, I now have 300 hours on my L3830 HST. It is just over a year old. The loader has worked well. After having used many tractors over the years and currently still using a NH 2120 and a Kubota L4850 as well as my neighbors little 790, I can tell you that the loader is similar in function to them. The NH 2120 does not have loaded tires and is extremely light on the rear. A load in the bucket will easily send it tilting forward without a boxblade. Even at that, it cannot get the rear off the ground using the bucket tilt circuit as you had mentioned in your original posting. Realize even industrial loaders can rarely go into a pile of material and simply lift out a full heaped bucket, it takes some finesse to break it loose by rolling, curling and lifting. I'm thinking that maybe you may have thought you simply put the bucket in the material and it should just be able to lift it, curl it etc. I think with more fooling around, you may find it actually is doing a great job or perhaps in fact there is an issue that we have yet to learn about.

Whenever you change out the hydraulic fluid on the tractor (mine is a 3130 GST with LA723 FEL) or the hydraulic filter, be sure to check the large round black magnet in the top of the filter head when you remove it to change out the filter.

The magnet should give you an idea of the amount of metallic debric generated in the hydraulic system as shown by a moderate amount of grey metallic dust fillings stuck to the magnet.

BTW, the round black magnet is on the inside of the outer rubber seal surrounding the inflow ports to the filter. It looks like some kind of rubber gasket if you don't know what it is.

Here it is, it is the round black ring semi-covering the inlet holes:
