Tractor
2003 JM 224, LN1714 Kioti
Just picked up a used Kioti LB 1714. I believe its same platform as LB 1914. Low hours and good shape. Good little tractor I think. Will work well in tight quarters.
Any opinions, good, bad or indifferent?

It's an earlier Kioti with a Daedong engine. What more can I say? It's a good little tractor. Use smaller implements as you don't have a lot of PTO HP, and you don't want to overweight the frame.
Did you buy this on Ebay? I just saw one for sale on there in the last several days.
Good luck, and I think you'll enjoy the little beast. John

Its a good little tractor. You are right about it being pretty much the same as a LB1914, they both share a lot the same parts. They are both the same frame only the 1714 is a few less HP.

Also if this is the one off Ebay i think the seller stated that it didn't have hydraulics for a loader. Just for your info it does. It will take a loader no problem. Its the same loader that goes on a LB1914. Let me know if you ever have any questions about your tractor.

Take care,

Yes, its the one that was on ebay. It was on ebay twice, basically only a few real low bids the first time. Ended with reserve not being met by a long shot and I was high bidder. Again went on ebay, same stuff. I don't know if people were scared or what. It was from a dealer, so we spoke by phone. Came up with price and I bought it. I already have 2 tractors so its just another toy for me but I couldn't pass up the deal. I'm not saying I stole it but it was a darn good price. Up my way it would go for a lot more than I spent thats all I'll say.
If you have any info I would appreciate it. I may just put a FEL on it if price permits or put a snow plow on it. Its a nice small CUT for the tight areas like under trees and zipping around close quarters.

I was going to say that all the Kioties came with a valve block, but then, I wasn't sure that that year model did. Good to know Jon. John
EDIT: HARRY if you got it any where near that last bid, you did great. That little tractor looks to be in excellent shape. John

Hi guys, just got that LB 1714 delivered. Weather, snow, other things made it a long time to get. I do notice it starts hard. It runs great once she kicks off but I don't believe glow plugs are working. I turn key on and glow plug light goes off in 1 second. I know this is most likely glow plug related as I've turned a wrench too many years and she runs too well once she starts.
Any one have specs(Ohm readings?) for glow plugs? Relay/timer?? I only got a owners manual and would really like a service manual. Any info is appreciated. I usually am the guy giving the help and sure hope this time I can get some as Kioti's are really not my forte. LOL /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif not yet anyways.
Nice looking little tractor. Wish it was warmer here in upstate NY so I could play with this new toy.
Like I said , any help appreciated. Harry G

My LK3054 must hold the key to the far left until the glow plug coil glows. It then returns to the off position by itself.
thx
Jim

Really sounds like the glow plug timer. If you turn the key to the right and it should glow the plugs for about 10 seconds. You can turn the key to the left and it will all you to manually preheat but only up to the amount of time that the timer will allow. To truly manually preheat just turn the key all the way to the right and that should do it, just remember to have your foot off the clutch /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif .

Ah ha, foot off of clutch?????? are you telling me there is something in the glow plug circuitry that prevents the timer from operating if the clutch is depressed? Please explain. How is timer wired? I don't think the owners manual goes that deep. I'm into electrical but without a diagram I'm hunting/pecking.

Just a quick edit to add "I do appreciate the help and suggestions" and a thank you.
Regards, Harry G and, God Bless our Troops!!!!!!!!!!!

Well not really, let me word what I said above. To manually glow the glow plugs you need to turn the key to the "run position" and in order to keep the tractor from trying to start you need to have your foot off the clutch. There is a safety start feature on the clutch and it has to be pressed down in order to start the tractor. Let me see if I can come up with a wiring diagram. I'll probalby have to email it to you as it will be to large of a file to post here.
