Oil & Fuel leaking bx2200 fuel tank repair question

I have posted on the thread on the bx fuel problem and rec'vd no replys so I thought I would try this route.I have just purchased the repair kit for my bx this morning(new sending unit plastic collar) and have installed it per directions. The problem is that the old sending unit assy had a gasket between the plastic collar and the actual sending unit. I did not transfer this as I did not think about it till after I had put the new assembly back into the tank. The only other thing that I have reassembled is the support bracket that sits below the tank on the left side.I don't think that the gasket is supposed to be transferred as far as I can tell from the instructions but I also don't want to put it all together and have it leak again.So if anyone reading this has done this repair , your input would be appreciated greatly. Did you leave the gasket off, if so did the sending unit still leak.
