LED Lights on ROPS

/ LED Lights on ROPS #23
I out a couple of LEDs on my BX2230 ROPS that has worked out quite well.
I bent some 2" X 1/4" bar stock to make some guards so tree branches won't knock them off and (GASP) welded them to the ROPS. They've broken off a few branches with no damage to the lights, so far.I ran the wires down inside the ROPS and out a hole and wired them to a switch on the left fender by the PTO levers.

I have a pair of 4 inch square LED lights secured to the left / right upright sides of the ROPS - they are bolted via the existing holes in the rops, wiring through the rops tubes. I have a canopy on the ROPS. Not sure if have a photo. Left LED faces back, Right LED facing forward ... very effective, I love them.

not the best photo ... below canopy on rops, opposite directions

This is where I mounted my led lights with a couple sheet metal screws.

They are high up, don’t put too much light on the hood and shine over the bucket. The rear facing light illuminated the entire reach of the backhoe. These were on sale at Princess Auto (Canadian version of Harbour Freight) for about $20 a piece a couple years a go and they are very bright, I couldn’t ask for more light.

I put a switch in for the front and the back so it doesn’t look like close encounters all the time.

LED’s on a rubber coated magnetic base that came with nut insert in it already. East to flip on around to face back, or put under the ROPS if working by branches.

I purchase a ready made kit with 20" lighter for forward and (2) 4" for rear. Came with switch, relay, wire and mounting brackets.

Used the existing holes for mounting in the ROPS.

Mounted the switch in the dash.

I have since put a cab on the tractor and changed to alternate mode LEDs. They have a yellow wire that when energized changes the light to a different mode. I put this yellow wire on a momentary rocker so I can change them anytime I want. These have 6 modes for bright white solid, amber solid, amber and White Solid and all of the same color choices in flashing mode.

What's the use of the lights? What do you do after dark with the tractor? No picture of the second mode changing switch? Looks like you did a clean install.

I went with TSC’s kit and lights because they were on sale stupid cheap, think it was like $60 total? Really happy with the kit and switch.

I used a pice of 2” I had laying around them welded two bolts to hang the lights, I used hose clamps to secure it to the ROPS with old kids bike inner tubes to kill any rubbing.

Can’t find any good pictures of just the lights but I’m happy with the install and they are plenty bright, I leave the nuts just loose enough I can rotate them forward or back as needed on the fly. Really need to put wing nuts up there but so far they don’t move when I put them someplace so it’s not needed.
