Kubota mx5100 Ford 641
I have a Kubota mx5100 which is close to four years old now. I bought it new and have followed the maintenance schedule faithfully. It has 650 hours on it. I use it for plowing snow, winching and hauling firewood, bushoging and assorted light work.Wondering what the ballpark lifespan in hours is for this machine.
I have had a Ford 9n for many years and also a Ford 641 Workmaster which I still have. Never had any issues with these and worked them hard. This is the first new tractor I ever owned and the first diesel. And the first one with an hour meter that worked.
So can someone tell me what lifespan to expect. I am 68 and expect it to do me out as they say but would still like to know.
Thanks,
Hoodie

I had a 9n now a dk45 kioti. Same hours and usage as yours, same province! as my dad used to say that will do me out. In my mechanic opinion all these machines should go 3 to 4000 hrs with regular maintenance and no serious abuse.

Do you have grandkids you can pass it on to?
5,000 hours would be an easy target, at 111 hours per year that would be about 40 more years. But it could easily go 15,000 hours with good maintenance.

Gas engine tractors operate at higher rpms and higher temperatures than diesel engine tractors.

Following your Operator's Manual maintenance schedule your Kioti should go at least 10,000 engine hours.

Owner/operator tractors are subject to less abuse than inexperienced employee operated tractors.

10,000 hours is pretty much worn out scrap metal. Probably took a lot of maintnance, mi or repairs & a few major repairs to get there too.

3-4k with moderate maintnance & minor repairs is a good expectation.

On newer tractors especially time will not be as nice. I doubt we'll see the electronics & emissions last anywhere near the 50 years that a lot of the 8ns have. There are so many more makes & models these days finding parts for many 20 year old machines is almost impossible.

15000 hrs without doing the injectors or valves especially the exhaust valves may be a stretch. not arguing just sayin. but as you said that's jus maintenance.

There WILL be numerous repairs needed long before 10,000 hours, even if the diesel engine does make it to that!

Worst problem I see with they new breed of tractors, is getting the parts when they get old!

I use to know a guy that had the front ring/pinion go out on his Kubota 2850 and the parts were no longer available. NO PLACE, not even in old stock, so last I heard after using it in 2wd, he sold it off for a much reduced price.

Several thousand hours shouldn't be a problem for a Kubota diesel. You are only putting on a couple hundred hours a year so it should outlast you if you treat it well and keep it serviced. If you leave it outside to rot and abuse it then all bets are off.

Here's a good thread for reading up on how to shorten your tractor's life span

I've had good luck getting parts for my Kubota's including a 30 year old SCUT with 5000+ hours on it.

There is no way to answer your question because of the number of variables involved.

That said, I would expect it to outlast you given proper maintenance, lack of abuse, and proper storage.
