Does anyone own the JD brand quicktach forks? What other brands are available? I went to the dealer,he had Horst brand forks but they really didn't impress me much. Also what if any bucket options are out there. I currently have a material bucket and I wanted to get an HD model. The dealer said he'd have to order one and it was like $700.00. Is that right? Seems kind of high to me. I have a 300x loader so it has quicktach. Are there other companies out there that sell loader attachments to the public?

Try wrlonginc.com Their prices seem to run about 10-20% under JD brand.

I agree. Speak with Nelson at WR Long. They make components that are in the quality line of JD. Otherwise I would go with Frontier. One can easily get burned on non-JD equipment. I am an advocate of sticking with the company that made the original, except when quality is close. Some companies make quick tach components which are of inferior quality. WR Long is NOT one of them. Their stuff is really nice.

Rankin makes nice forks to fit the JD quick tach.

I purchased mine from JD for $750. LOVE them. I have the QA that doesn't accept skid steer type, so I was limited in my options. I love mine. Use them all the time for many different things.
everyone I called reference a price was very close to the price I got. Most were higher.

Your pricing for the HD bucket from Deere is on the money. Why do you want the HD bucket...is yours bending and you need the reinforcment. If not then don't buy it. If you fear that you will bend the top or bow the sides it would be less expensive to weld the reinforcments (boxing in the top and welding the straps to the sides) than to purchase the same bucket with the reinforcments already there.

As far as the forks go. I like the JD brand but the Bradco ones are much stouter and fit perfectly to the JD Quick Tach set up. You may also try the Gearmore brand. You can call them at 1-800-833-3023 ask for Eric in sales he can help you out and they ship everywhere. Gearmore also deals with the Bradco forks and the price is the same from them or Bradco themselves.

In regards to the skid steer attachments on the JD loaders. Keep in mind that when switching to the Skid Steer mounts you will also have to either switch to skid steer buckets and implements or weld on the attaching plate to current buckets and implements. With this set up you will essentially add 100-200lbs more weight at the end of the lift arms which in turn will reduce your overall lift capapcity by that amount.

Thanks for all the repies. As for the HD bucket, I'm clearing some land and have the materials bucket on it. It is just way to flimsy for my taste. I really wanted the forks but didn't realize every attachment was going to cost $700 minimum. My locale dealer really sucks ( that's the main reason I didn't buy from him) So I took the ride to another dealer. They were great. I thought the buckets would be less expensive than they are. The forks he sells are Horst brand, I really wasn't that impressed with them. I was kicking around the idea of a JD 4 in 1 bucket ( Since I was planning on picking up a gapple in the near future) After some research I felt that the 4 in1 may solve more of my problems than buying multiple loader attachments. I did contact ATI but there prices were more than Deere. Is there anything special in forks that I should look for? Any insite would be very helpful.

Thanks

Rico you must have put a gun to your dealers head to get your forks for $750
Two of the locale dealers want $1200 and $1000 for the JD forks. The good dealer wants $650 for the Horst brand forks. There's a nice set on ebay for $850 but that doesn't include shipping.

You might consider getting the jd skid steer attachment brackets on the loader. Then you can fit nearly all types of skid steer attachments on the front. Skid steer forks, buckets, PHD, grapple forks, or whatever are significantly cheaper than the JD brand. IMHO, normal skid steer buckets are much heavier duty than JD' hd bucket. Also many used attachments available. Unfortuanately, the SS attachment runs about $400 and a skid steer attachment plate would need to be welded to your existing bucket.
I have the skid steer attachment on my JD 3720. I didn't want the JD 72" bucket ($750) which was the only one available from JD and ended up buying a Woods 66" bucket. The Woods bucket did require cutting the slots 3/4 more narrow to fit the JD skid steer attachment. Cut it myselft with a torch. I almost bought a JD skid steer 66" foundry bucket with is more like the typical tractor bucket in dimensions. That is a very nice HD bucket and weighs just under 400 lbs. (The profile and dimensions are on JD website.) The woods bucket weighs about 250 lbs. Both the Woods and JD foundry buckets cost about $550. Both are slightly bigger in height and depth than the JD buckets and more capacity. Both buckets have the round back design seen in hd buckets. Woods actually makes Kubotas HD buckets but the mounting plate is different. The low profile buckets used on most skid steers are too long in front and capacity is probably too high for the 300x or 300cx loaders.
