Log Tongs In A Pinch

I have a small set of skidding tongs which worked great when we had a stove that took 16" pieces of wood. A couple winters ago i bought a larger stove, and now i cut my firewood to 20" ....... and the small tongs don't open wide enough. Well...... we dropped a big ole Maple last week and I needed to start moving the big rounds so i can start splitting them. Simple solution is to go buy a bigger set, but i'm on a budget since Christmas is coming. I Must have some crap hanging around this place that will allow me to pick up the rounds. Hmmmmmmmmmm. OK.... some forged J hooks, some chain, and a couple rings, A little work on the tips of the J hooks with a grinder to get them to grab better............. and voila !!!
