I asked to buy it (cheap) and he gave it to me. I guess he wanted it out of his way. I'm going to rebuild it. I already have better tires on it.
I don't understand why one end of the blade is angled but the other end is 90 degrees to the cutting edge.

That looks like a handy implement. How heavy is it?

What a nice gift it is.
The fellow that built that had some talent. Like the adjustable wheels for leveling.

Don't see what you mean by the 90 degrees. I am a grader operator and we do put on a plate on the end of the blade to carry material when working at the edge of a sidewalk or doing shoulders. Keeps material from drifting away or leaving a ridge.

Anyway, that looks like a handy blade for driveway work and such.

The blade ends. One end is 90 degrees in relations to the cutting edge and the other end is a different angle. If you look at the blade in the second pic, you can see what I mean. The left end as you look at it in the pic is not a 90.
It's a factory built unit. It has a tag on it but I forget what it says.

It's pretty heavy.

Now I have a guy wanting to buy it from me. :)

That's a great score! I think a little slime in the tires and you're good to go!!!

Can you take a close up of the adjustable wheels??? Looks nice enough to try and copy :D

Ok, I see a bit of difference in the curve of the blade on the ends. Most likely caused by use or abuse. I can see no reason why the company would change the curvature of the moldboard from one side to the other as it is made to sidecast either way.

I'll take another pic so you can see exactly what I'm talking about.

I looked at the label at lunch and it's made my Ditchrite. So far, no search has provided any more info.

teg,
I get a pic of the adjustable wheels too. this type of adjustment is pretty common on older equipment.

Just guessing that the cut back angle might have to do with providing side clearance while grading on the ditch side, or cutting close to a curb or structure.

You might have to take it for a test run with it set to cut or clear a ditch to see. It's been my experience that any time something has been added, such as a hole, bracket, a special cut etc. there usually is a reason because each "extra" adds to the cost of production. So it's time to start looking for reasons.

What a nice man indeed, great find! Looks like it has found a good home, please keep us posted with pix.

Regards
Sherweld
