We are very close to buying a new BX25D, mid mount 60" mower, thumb, loaded tires, with the 3pt hitch. My question is does anyone not like their BX? We want it to replace a B7200 we used for mowing with a rear finish mower. My wife wants the loader for doing her landscaping and gardening and I am interested in the backhoe. In the past I had a B7610 with a hoe and was wondering how the BX hoe compares? I currently have a MX5100 which I love and will be keeping for the heavy lifting so that is why I am not too worried about the front lifting capacity of the BX but am very interested in the backhoe. I want it to dig some drain lines for house, ditches, maybe a stump here and there, drains across the gravel driveway, stuff like this.
I was also interested if people with a 2nd larger machine found the BX as useful (seems like a great setup)
Thanks!

I really like the BX as a second machine. I actually use it more then the L4240. It is good for mowing. I think if I went with a small tractor with a loader and backhoe I would step up to a B series. The B series loader, back hoe, and 3PH are quite a bit stronger. You will also get a 3 range hydro on the B series.

I looked at at the BX25D before I bought my Mahindra. The local dealer was far more interested in selling large mining equipment than one of the liitle tractors on the front lawn. The Max 22 I have is in the same class as the BX but I got alot more bang for the same bucks. You'll find small tractor will get more use than a large on especially for residential landscaping. Don't get me wrong large equipment has it's place but for small tight places and driving across a lawn there is nothing like a SCUT.

I can't provide much input on the back hoe, but my dad has a BX2330 that we've been abusing for 10 years now. He bought it with the front loader to move chunks of tree trunks for his small residential tree business and with the turf tires and small size, it fits in people's back yards and doesn't tear up the lawn. I'm absolutely amazed at the stuff that loader will move. He's also got the underbelly mower for it for his 3.5 acres and it does pretty well.

You can't go wrong with a BX 25. I have put 1000 Hrs on mine in 3 years. I use the BH a lot, next to the FEL it is the most used implement and I have about 10. I have dug dry wells, utility ditches, planted trees and bushes. I have hilly property and use the BH as a moving ballast from side to side, always on the up hill side when working on a side hill. I have dug out some pretty big fir and alder stumps; holes 6' across to get all the roots cut off. 2 hour job to get out a 12" alder stump. Yes it is slower but gets the job done if not in a hurry. Get both the 8 and 12" buckets. For a irrigation line not too deep you can do 100' in a couple hours at 18-14" deep. I use the hoe to push the tractor along so not always getting off and turning the seat around.

My advise is to get a dedicated mower. Before spending the $22000 ish on a BX with all the trimmings, id buy a used diesel Zero turn and then look for a used compact excavator. Or buy a B with a bh and a dedicated mower. The BX is a great LITTLE tractor, but when it comes down to it it is not really big enough. Its very slow in operation. Digging ditches of any length is measured in days, not hours. As an all-rounder on a small property, it is great, however if you take the rose coloured glasses off, you see that its relatively weak and light and lacks ground clearance and 3pt lift. You have the advantage of having a larger tractor, that may changes things a little.. or make it worse because youre used to having a heavier, stronger tractor. If your used to having that, a BX can be a frustrating experience Even consider adding a BH to the MX and buy a dedicated mower. You should be noticing a bit of a theme here when it comes to mowing. The BX will "cut" grass, but its not a good mower, its too much of a jack of all trades, master of none.

For a loader tractor comparison, we have a Ford NH 3930 MFWD with loader for the farm related tasks and a BX1500 with loader and 48" MMM. I enjoy the heck out of the BX for around the yard chores, mowing, moving things about with the loader, and landscaping etc. It's lightweight and nimble. I do the driveway with the BX in lighter snowfalls. It's a fun little tractor that has its place where bigger tractors don't. I've been very happy with the MMM mower performance.

We've got a Kubota 5740 and a Kubota Zero turn then last year we bought a new Kubota BX25-D. That BX has exceeded ALL of our expectations. It's our "go too" tractor. Even my wife comes up with jobs for it to do. We've dug up stumps and rocks. Pulled trees off our property, dug holes to put in light poles, buried electrical cable with it and hardly picked up a shovel because of owning a BX and that's a good thing ;)

We also got a chipper/shredder for it and it gets rid of our branches while giving us chips and mulch for the wife's flower bed. About the only down side to owning the BX that I can think of is the 5740 don't get much use now

There's a reason why the BX is the biggest selling machine for Kubota. Everyone that got one likes them.

When I see anything about BX25 I read the thread.
I started tractor life 11 years ago with a BX2200 FEL MMM. Traded to a B7800 FEL and BX1500 MMM a year later and 3 years later traded the B7800 to a L3240 FEL and the BX1500 to a B2350 MMM. Both were disappointments, L was to big for my hillside property and the BX2350 jerked really bad stopping in reverse so in less than a year I traded the L3240 to a B3200 and the BX2350 to a BX2660. In order to finish this before tomorrow I'll speed forward to I bought some Kubota F's for mowing and a BX25 after some other in between trades. I later traded the BX25 to a B2620 FEL BH.
I currently have a B2620 FEL BH and believe I'd rather have a BX25 and probably will trade one day. Having owned and used them both for over a year on the B2620 and 2 or 3 years on the BX25, I prefer the BX25. If I had bought a BX23 11 years ago I would probably still own it. Two regrets with my Kubota purchases and that's one of them, waiting so long to get a Kubota with a BH and the other is waiting so long to buy a Kubota RTV.
Nothing beats a Kubota F for mowing and the BX25 is hard to beat for an all around SCUT for home landscaping use/needs. The B2620 is more powerful and sits higher off the ground but it ain't a BX25!:cool2:  :cool2:

For the limited tasks you have outlined for a Backhoe, would not a <$350 'Rip & Dig' mounted on the MX5100 FEL do the jobs?
