Hello all, Im looking for a new tractor and I have question that my bobcat dealer cant answer. He wont have it on the lot till this weekend for my test drive.
Ill be using the tractor for mucking stalls i.e. moving manure around rebedding turnouts and mowing 5 acres. so...
1. should I go with a belly mower or a rear mower or flail. my lot is flat although its very bumpy. 90% has no obstacles But I do have some trees out back and Ive trimmed them to get a 5' bush hog around them.
and speaking of bumps, how is the gas pedal operation over bumpy terrain? I cant use the gas pedal feature on my deere 4100 gear, its too bumpy. I can only use the hand throttle
2. Can I get forks for this fel? My dealer told me to go to northern equip and get a set of bolt on forks for the bucket
3. Is a hay spear available for the front? We just switched to round bales of hay and Ill need one to move them around
Thanks, Brian

MMM is expensive and can limit other attachements, best bet is go flail or rear, more and more folks are going flail for your usage. Flail works good, less money and doesn't hang out the back so far. If you are going HST, then all you have is hand throttle.

Yes, there are lots of bucket forks available. How much are you going to be lifting? Just be aware that if you lift too much... you stand a good chance of bending your bucket.. not good .

If you go quick attach there are hay spears available. How heavy are your bales? The quick attach would be good for getting proper front forks as well.

Is there a Kioti dealer close to you? The Bobcat and Kioti are the same tractor, different color, different loaders.

The kioti dealer is about 75 miles north. He said they sold the last 25, its been phased out by a 28. His price was 14900 w/fel He couldnt tell me the price for pallet forks even though my quote asked for a price.
Thats 4200 over the bobcat
Thats within 200 the kubota dealer quoted for the 2820.
The bobcat is looking good price wise. Im going fo a test drive wednesday.

Brian,

The bobcat has a cruise control lever for your bumpy terrain. Personally, I 'd recommend the rear finish mower over the belly. It's easier to install and remove not to mention being cheaper.

You may want to consider the bobtach equipped loader, it's about $500 more then the pin on but well worth it. You'll be able to use skid steer pallet forks and other attachments, bale spear, poop forks, front angle blades ect....

Goodd luck!

Thanks for the info, I'll bring it up with my dealer. He (Bobcat of Tampa) said the bob tach was not an option on the ct225.. They havn't been real knowledgeable about the tractor at all.

I purchased a CT225 on May 23rd with a Bob-Tach, so your dealer is in error. In fact, show him the last page of the implement brochure - it says that the Bob-Tach is available for all models.

However, that doesn't mean that it is READILY available as I'm still waiting for my tractor...:(

The Hydrostat is really smooth on bumpy ground even without using the CC.
I run a Bush hog RZ 160 for mowing...I also have 5 acres with bumps and hills, The rough cut mower is pretty heavy but it can take alot of ground contact and is helping me smooth out those bumps. Good luck with whatever you choose and have fun with it!

i have the 225. bobtach is whats on mine. foot control is awesome as it is easy to control over bumby ground. You can use alll bobcat attachments with the bobtach front end. I suggest the full suspension seat vs. the standard seat, its about 200 bucks more.
Tractor has been flawless so far

thanks backwoods, I Now have a 225. That post is 2 years old. I'm coming up on the 200 hr mark and am getting ready for a fluid change. the tractor has been a workhorse, the only problem I have had is a bad battery. it was replaced under warranty.
