looking for a new weed whacker

This is my first year in the new house. My ten year old Ryobi has sprung a fuel leak and I'm thinking about replacing it with a good 4 cycle trimmer. I checked HomeDepot and they have the standard assortment of 2 cycle trimmers except for a new line called "Echo". Anyone ever hear of them?

I've read somewhere that a 4 cycle is really the way to go. I'm willing to pay a bit more just to have to not have to mix the oil & gas!

I've only had one gas trimmer and it's a 2 cycle. I have no complaints with it except I wished I had gotten one that a brush blade could be used with it. They're not recommended for mine for whatever reason. That might be something to think about too.

I think they push 4 cycle because of lower emissions. Two cycle engines used to be more hp per pound than 4 cycle.

Personally I would trust 4 stroke trimmer after they start putting 4 strokes in chain saws

I have a commercial version of weed/brush cutter made by Schendowa and I love it. It is a 2 cycle. Never have problems starting it and I work it to death. It cost me around $300. I use an Oregon brand 90 teeth per inch saw blade on it and have cut down 6 inch trees with it. It goes through 1.5 inch brush as easy as it goes through weeds when the weed cuter is on it. When I cut weeds I use the attachment that holds two ten inch heavy duty lines and if I do not hit anything sharp the line will last me more than an hour cutting heavy weeds. I also have the coiled line attachment and do not care for it.

Echos history starts in 1950 so yea I've heard of em. They have a very reputable reputation with their products.
4 cycle trimmers are a little heavier than the 2 stroke models and still may need mixing of the fuel with some brands.
