Lost a sale to Bobcat this week

Customer called me and told me that he wanted to take the time to tell me that he really appericiated the time I spent with him but he decided to buy the Bobcat.
He told me that the main reason for buying it was the fact it had a Kubota engine in it
I asked him where he got that info from?
He said that is what the salesmen told him.

"Well okay than thanks for the call and if there is ever anything we can do for you just ask."

And those were my final words to him.

Some of the best people I have done business with didn't get my business the first 5 years that I knew them. They did not have the product I wanted. I appreciated their professionalism and once I became their customer I stayed their customer.
You sound like that kind of businessman, building relationships.

Does??? It have a Kubota engine are is his "sellsman" misinformed are did he just out and out L-- to get the sale----Time has a way of working the truth to the top!!

Wether misinformed or just maladjusted, they customer should probably know he got snookered. Did you offer him a free loader if he took the bobcat back? This is just wrong on so many levels... I hate a lying salesman, gives us all a bad name... I ALWAYS disclose that Kubota just copied Daedongs engines anyway (Just kidding).

I had a salesman tell me Kioti makes a few engines for Kubota.

I had a Mahindra dealer tell me my 2810 has a Kubota engine.
I just smiled and said, "i'm very happy with it"

Rick, as my mother always says, the cream rises to the top.

He'll be back, after a couple of crappy services experiences or getting hosed on an attachment or the sort, he'll be back.

I notice this trend even when spec'ing and purchasing big trucks. A lot of salesman just don't know the product, what is available for it, or just outright give you wrong info. Then give you a funny look when you correct them.

I guess it's just because the guy that is SPENDING the money tends to do a little more research on the products available?

I'm researching sub compact tractors right now for a future purchase and I can't believe how many salesmen I have spoke to that can't even answer questions, where the answer is listed right on the manufacturers web site??
