Lucas Oil

If you are talking Lucas oil additive, I don't believe additives are necessary if you use good quality oil, and change the oil at recommended intervals. If you want to extend the change intervals go with oil designed for longer intervals. Fuel additives I don't know about since quality of fuel is not always easy to check on. Fuel additives is a plus if you store your fuel or your equipment for moths without use. (Lawnmower in winter etc.)

Anyone have any opinions on this oil. I have an over-thr-road trucker friend that swears by it. Says his rig runs 20 degrees cooler with it. Just asking.

I don't like OIL additives. Never had much reason to need it anyway. The Lucas FUEL additive, by all accounts, helps to lubricate OLD fuel pumps built in the days before sulfur levels were reduced in diesel. I've used it for about 4 years now. The first couple tankfulls of fuel smoked more than usual, then cleared up with LESS smoke. Can't tell you what that means. I won a case of Lucas fuel treatment (12 quarts) a few years back at the grand opening of an auto repair/parts store near the house. (NAPA) My reaction might be different if I was PAYING for it.

The oil (which has their additives already included) is a pretty good product. I would have no problem running it. But, like the others have said, you really don't need Lucas Oil or the Lucas additive products if you use a good quality oil, especially synthetics.

Their products are marketed primarily for high performance and commercial operated engines and drive trains. They produce a lot of products for the racing community. The Diesels in the large trucks, like mine, operate under harsher conditions than most. Unless you are using your vehicle to tow heavy loads constantly, or are using farm equipment on several thousand acres, I would bypass paying the extra for Lucas.

Using good quality oils, I got 1.4 million miles on my last semi. The engine was never rebuilt and still ran good with low oil consumption and got good fuel mileage. We still use it even though I have a new truck.

You won't go wrong with Lucas, but you probably don't need it.

I use Amsoil in everything. Amsoil out performs Lucas by a wide margin, I used to use Lucas in alot of my engines and believe it is a good product if adding to petroleum based oils. Use a good quality synthetic (not blend or petroleum based) and change once a year.
