Greetings:

Does anyone know how to find out what component is eating my electric?

I have 12.6 volts at the starter and going up behind the dash. There is
nothing coming back down the black and white wire to the solenoid. The
12.6 never drops when I try to turn on lights or try to crank. Anyone have an
idea on what I could do to narrow it down from here?

Thanks!

What type of equipment are you talking about?
if you fill in your profile most likley some one else has the same equipment and can start you looking in a pitucluar spot.

beyond that do you have power to fuse block?
starter switch ?

Oh, OK.

I'll see if I can find the profile thing. Meanwhile, it is an M4030SU.

Thanks!

For those who are having some trouble with the vagueness of the original question, according to Kubota's website the M4030SU was a special utility 2WD tractor introduced in 1988 with 42 hp at the PTO. That may help some.

Check all fuses and fusable links. Check the operability of the starter switch. Follow the wires backwards. use a meter.

I believe this tractor has a fusible link (look near the starter) - it has a white plastic plug and a short loop of red wire. The ends of the wire corrode in the crimps and stop passing current. To test it, try unplugging it and just insert a loop of regular heavy wire - like #12 or #14 house wire. If it works, get a new fusible link (part no. 36330-75380 - around 5 bucks).

Thanks to all who replied! Especially rbargeron--it was exactly that link by the starter.
