Mahindra 3616 Shuttle
First let me say I have done a search but couldnt find the answers to my questions.

I have been looking at the mahindra 3016 shuttle but had a few questions before I got really serious.
How durable are the mahindra 3016's?

I plan to use this tractor for bush hogging the pasture fields that are grown up. Most is flat with some hills. Will this tractor handle a 5' bush hog under those conditions? I would just be cutting grass, weeds, broom sage.

Would I be able to pick up 600-800lb rolls of hay and put them on a trailer approx 3 1/2' high?

How is mahindra about doing warranty work should you have any problems?

Thanks in advance for the help

First, the Mitsubishi built Mahindras have a very good reputation. The front axles are very strong, and the 3016 weighs more than competitive brands in it's class. As far as the bush hog, I run a Bush Hog sq60 on my 2615 which has less horsepower than the 3016, and I've never run out of power when cutting grass and weeds. The 600-800lb rolls of hay should be very easy to lift. The lift capacity to full height at the pins is 1650lbs. http://mahindrausa.com/sites/default/files/tractor/pdf/MAH5416 pgs 012114_1.pdf

What would you hope to gain with Ag tires, traction?

Well to me the Ag tires look like they would give you more traction but the industrial tires look like they would be more stable on the side of a hill.

I am just not sure. I am new to tractors.

Definitely go with filled industrial tires. You will have a wider and I believe a lower stance. The tire options are at the bottom of the page, here. 3016 4WD Shuttle | Mahindra

To answer your questions 1.Durability always remains a question no matter what the brand. Cross your fingers and hope your's stays together no matter what is bought. Past history of different machines in regard to this subject is little guarantee your's will act historically. 2. Yes. 3. Easily. 4. Warrantee treatment has a lot to do with the dealer who attempts to wrestle with the manufacturer with any issues that might pop up.
Tires: I tested them both before I purchased. I would say that the industrials provided more forward grunt on hard packed ground. More slippery on but kinder to grass. My dealer was also willing to put on the larger industrials from the 3616 as they take the same size ag so he was just going to swap the ags for these. I chose ags because of what I do mostly (skid logs) in the forest so for me, all the ground clearance i could achieve became important.. Some say they (industrials) are useless in snow but I think people with the smaller ,tighter lugged industrials have a larger problem if this presents itself so. One member skids out logs in snow just fine with industrials but his are 16.9's by 24. Side to side stability with ags is accomplished with kicking out the rear tires at their widest setting. When doing so, there is a hardly a difference in width stance between the two.

Thanks for the info.

I noticed right off the bat that the tractor with AG tires looked narrow and my dealer informed me that they could flip the rims to make it wider.

Now if I can just make up my mind whether or not the 3616 is worth the extra cash.

Anyone else who would like to weigh in on the subject I would love to hear the opinions of people who have the 3016.

Another point regarding the industrial vs Ag tires is the durability, the industrials will outlast the ag's. heavier side walls as well.

Much has to do with pto grunt. That is all the 3616 has over the 3016 and that would only come to bear as to the width of your implement cut as well as how long you let the grass grow. From what you describe, the 30 will handle your chores. You will lose traction long before you lose power with chores like heavy pulling or ground engagement tools. I had a set of ags on my previous tractor for 28 yrs. As far as tire longevity, I would not let that subject come into the equation as it is much more important to match your tire to the work you are planning. What good is a tire lasting any longer if it doesn't fit your tractor's work load situations.
