Not really a comparison thread. But I now own both these machines.
Just picked up a '17 3550 with R4's, cab, loader, 4wd ~600hrs
Some may remember my quest a few years ago saying I wished a mfg would produce a tractor...HST.....with something larger than 9.5x16 or 12-16.5 front wheels/tires.
Well it turns out that Mahindra actually did for about a decade. The 4035/5035...3540/3550.
So I been seeing on on FB marketplace about an hour away from me for a few weeks and decided to pull the trigger.
Just got home with it. Haven't had a chance to go over it with a fine tooth comb yet. A few minor things....
Front tie rod boots shot. I have issues on my MX too with boots constantly tearing. Nature of Bush hogging slot of brush
Loader is missing the kickstand to remove. I have another thread asking for someone to get me the length so I can just make one.
Hst pedals seem like they need a little lube as it takes a LONG time to actually stop when letting off the pedal. Even just creeping. It still wants to keep going unless you hit the opposite pedal.
First impressions.....grill guard seems slot cheesier than the MX. But everything else looks good. And man is a cab going to be nice mowing and doing snow removal.
Not sure how the r4s on this heavier machine will fare for dirt work compared to my lighter MX with r1's. My MX also has the HD bucket and this one seems built lighter for sure
Also don't know how the 19.5L-24 will fit in a plow furrow for plowing garden. So may stick with the MX for that.
I'm sure I'll have alot more to compare going forward. And probably slot more questions also.
I need to get with the dealer and get a manual.
But I really do like the stance of this tractor with the big 14-17.5 front rubber.
