Mahindra 4110 50hr service

Took off of work yesterday. 88 degrees in north Jersey. This morning was 35. Anyway, I used my tractor after getting it back from the first service. The FEL whistles and hisses more than ever. I don't know what they did or if this is normal. This happens when I'm letting the FEL down. IS THIS NORMAL??? It also makes a slight "snapping" noise if I shake the bucket with the controller to get all the dirt out.

Well I just had my 50 hr service from my dealer on my 2810. He had quoted me around $70 several week ago when I inquired. I did not think to ask what the $70 included. Turns out that was for labor only. The actual labor was $67.50 and the parts (oil, filter, air filter & fuel filter) was another $48.75. Overall, I think it was worth it. I also had then ad a tooth bar to my bucket for another $325. They also welded on 3 lift hooks on top of the bucket at no charge or at least the cost was not separated out.

Well, I asked the dealer about the cost, and they recommended I do it myself! That's probably the way I'll go. I sure would like the hooks and digging teeth on the bucket at the same time though! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This was an older post but I was also wondering about the 50 hr service on my 6000 regarding the re-torque of the head bolts. I was at the dealers a couple of weeks ago and asked him about it. He said not necessary. Apparently at the factory they used an impact torque wrench that was drawing air off a tank that others were drawing off of as well. Therefore, when the torque value was "hit" the wrench would stop prior to actually reaching the correct value(I'm assuming this). Well, once they figured out that the tank wasn't big enough for all the air lines they made the change. Check with your dealer on your specific serial # to see if its necessary. Regarding the valve adjustment, same thing. Once you torque the head down the valves may automatically be a tad out of adjustment. This apparently is also not necessary if the head bolt torque is not accomplished. I just turned 22 hours on my 6000 and changed the oil/filter. The oil that came out looked like new (reddish like some hydraulic fluid though). I noticed that the drain plug has a magnet on it to attract filings. A small amount of very fine "dust" was attached. I cleaned it also. I did notice that the FWD shaft cover really gets in the way and may have to be taken off next time. Anybody: please collaborate this statement by my dealer regarding the head bolt/valve adjustment thing. thanks-- BobG in VA

Bob, the head mech at my dealer did not mention the story about the airlines vs. wrenches in use, but he did tell me that they would only retorque the head bolts and adjust the valves if a customer specifically requested it. Said it was not necessary to retorque the head bolts, and the valves would only need adjusting if they get noisy. He said to do my first service at 50 hours and change all the filters, check all fluid levels and a thorough lube and all would be good with him. I have about 34 hours on mine now and it has used no oil. Been bailing hay at three different pastures, so some roading and some working. I must say, the pavement travel seems to be unkind to the front lug tires!(4WD) The back ones hardly show any adverse effects. Chet

Thanks for the confirmation on the headbolts! Regarding your front tires on pavement, I don't suppose you have it in 4 wheel drive??? If so, that will wear the fronts faster as the gear ration is probably different from the rear. Make sure you are in 2 wheel drive only on pavement. good luck! BobG in VA

No, I am not running it with the front axle engaged, just that the short bars are wearing down on the trailing edge. Chet

you have to remember your front tires are scuffing going around corners and wear faster, being they are your steering tires.
