All of the new Mahindras have the electric pto.
From what l got, l thought the op as witnessing the actual pto spline shaft off the tractor. I thought this was the shaft not differentiating rpm wise in rotational speed. Have seen this in the 4510 and it’s a dead, simple fix.
The 5100 series have been so trouble free for us l haven’t had much chance to crawl around one.
Granted we haven’t sold many being a small dealership but there is so much other stuff to prep, repair and service, l’m devoid of full knowledge of this tractor and was hoping for a simple fix like previous and current Mahindras are with pto being “switched”.

are you saying that the 5145/5155 now have electric PTO engagement? the 2022 models did not.

No.
Not yet anyway.
Mahindras new line includes the 1100, 2100 and 3100 series. These are made with the affiliation of Mitsubishi and are all electric ptos.
It is yet to be established how the 5100 series will fit into this line.
We can’t even get the 3100 series yet let alone plans for the new 4100’s.

Just changed the Universal Tractor Fluid and used Triax UTTO XL which is red. I know that I did not need to change it per the manual but the suction strainer should be serviced which requires draining the whole system so I decided to put in new fluid.

There are six drain plugs underneath - I used a 5/8" pipe plug socket. Started at the front plug and worked back. They have magnets in each plug and all just had the normal very fine metal mush. Got almost 10 gal out which must mean there are 1.6 gal still in the system. Used an oil filter chain wrench to get the hydraulic filter loose from the side - not too hard - helps to swivel the battery out.

The real pain was the suction strainer. The slot screw heads on the clamp over the short connecting hose are not visible from underneath but was able to loosen them by feel and made sure they are visible when reassembling. Getting the short hose that connects the two pipe pieces loosened was a pain - sprayed silicon all over and used a big wrench to twist and finally loosen it so I could slide it down the lower pipe. My suction screen was very clean which indicates not much metal filings from tractor assembly - good news.

Glad this is over and since it is 1100 hrs to the next change it will be a long while.

Damon, the suction strainer is not difficult to remove. There’s 3 bolts IIRC that attach it to the side of the transmission housing and those come out easily. The only slightly tricky thing is sliding the rubber hose section forward past the joint in the steel suction pipe so that once you remove those three bolts I mentioned, you can pull the filter all the way out of the transmission housing. Basically there’s a short (maybe 4-6 inches) long section of rubber hose that bridges the gap between the steel suction pipe that’s attached to the tractor and leads up front to the pump, and the piece of pipe that’s part of the strainer that you have to remove. You loosen the hose clamp assembly and slide that short section of rubber hose forward until you expose the gap where the two pieces of pipe meet. Then you take out the three bolts and the suction strainer assembly will come right out. Word of caution. You have to drain all of the fluid first. If you pull the strainer without draining the 11 odd gallons of hydraulic/transmission fluid, you will have a huge mess on your hands. So I basically ignored the 50 hour clean the strainer service and just changed the fluid, the spin on hydraulic filter, and the fluid all at 100 hours. I chose to go this route because it’s impossible to remove and clean the strainer without draining the fluid. And I also think it’s impossible to drain the fluid and capture it without getting dirt in it. So I just did it all at 100 hours including new fluid. Which I also upgraded at the same time to a semi synthetic fluid which flows better at the lower temperatures that I have. Hope this helps. Whatever you do, get a drain pan that holds at least 15 gallons. There’s a lot of oil in there! Let me know how you make out!
Andy
So I finally got around to doing the 50 hr service. I just wanted to say thanks for the detailed instructions on the strainer removal. That was a HUGE help. Everything went pretty smooth and would have been even easier if I was 20 years younger. Of course a lot of things would be easier.
Take care
Damon

Question for you Sir. I just took my 5155 with FEL to the Dealer / Service center for the 50 hour initial service.

I was expecting around $1000.00 for the bill, give or take. I delivered it, and I will pick it up. I spoke with the Tech, and said that it was for the intitial break in / 50 hour service and to make sure the VIN is recorded for warranty reasons.

So, dropped it off Monday 07 OCT 2024, got a call from the service center on Wednesday 09 OCT 2024 saying that my tractor was ready to be picked up. I asked what the bill came to, and they told me $256.95

I was shocked. Why so low? I asked the manager if they did the 50 hour service per the manual, and he said they did.

I don't think $256 bucks could even cover the oil and filters, am I right?

Going to pick it up tomorrow. What would you suggest I check, and what to ask, to make sure the service was done to standard?

Thanks in advance...

Darren

That is low!!!
Unless you marked your filters somehow, there is really no way to verify the actual filter. We give all old parts to the owners.
You can ask for the job sequence check list or a copy there of .
We get $140 per hr labor and it takes more than two hrs labor to do this service properly. Two 5 gallons of oil cost $260 alone.
Our service job list for this tractor is a page and a half long with rather small print.
Ask them what they did exactly.
We get around $1400 for this for a reason and granted this includes get and bring back but Something seems missing here.
Perhaps they didn’t change hydraulic fluid and did just the engine.
Some list hydraulic fluid change at 100 hrs.

I pick it up this afternoon, but talking to the tech, he said he did the engine oil change, oil filter, and just changed the hydro oil filter, not the hydraulic oil itself. He said he checked torque on bolts, greased the fittings, etc. Still, I think that price is way low. Unfortunately, I did not mark my filters... after this though, I will be doing all fluid changes myself.

As always, I appreciate your input very much. Thank you Sir... have a great weekend!

For that price I'd be using them again. Write dates on you filters with a paint marker or scratch them in. Put a paint mark on the drain plug and you'll be able to tell if they break the mark.

On mine, first service called for engine oil and filter, and hyd filter change. That's what was done.

He probably checked torque by looking at the witness marks on the bolt heads.

Greasing takes 10 minutes tops, and that's only if the zerks were wiped off before and after.
