I've got a new Mahindra 6000 and it "surges" at certain rpm's. That is, it doesn't hold a steady rpm but the rpm's go up and down about 50 rpm's. Anybody have this problem? It sounds like the governer to me but I don't have a service manual so don't know what to do other than return it to the dealer for warranty work in which I have to pay for pickup and delivery because I don't have a big enough trailer.

I believe on recent posts people have talked about a change in the sensor that controls the mixture for EPA guidlines. It seems to me if this causes performance issues you can have the sensor replaced? I believe this is more common when the engine is cold. I haven't had a problem with my 6500 as I give it time to warm up before the heavy tasks. Someone else can shed more light on this I'm sure.

I thought that this sensor caused problems warming up and usage in cold weather. At any rate I was sent a new one and installed it. I have not had any surging or related problems.

I did have the original sensor in all summer and no problems.

Pork: Where are you located?
Might it be possible to have dealer come to you?

I'm in Tallahassee, Florida. I always let it warm up and have no trouble with cold starts. It just surges at certain rpm's, cold or warmed up. I'll give the dealer a call and see what he says. Thanks for the help.

It surges worst at around 1100 rpm but also at about 1700 and some other rpms. It is rock steady at 1500 rpm. It surges less under load but still surges. Sometimes the surge goes away and it runs fine. Then it will come back and begin surging again.

Pork, On the left side of your engine, front of and just above the injecter pump, there is a sensor with a 2 wire plug on it. Unplug it and jumper the 2 wires going back to the injecter pump, If this solves the problem you need a new sensor. Let me know what you find.
