I have a Mahindra 4530 with a ML245 FEL. Probably made around 2010. One of the the bucket/tilt cylinders is leaking so I took it off and took it to have the seals replaced. The shop told me it wouldn't do much good to repair it because there is some pitting on the shaft and the new seals would be destroyed in a short time.
It is a LH Bailey 2.5 bore, 24" strike with a 1.25" diameter shaft. I think I would call it a tang cylinder. 32" compressed 56" full extension.
Anyway, of all the millions of aftermarket cylinders out there I cant find an exact replacement.
Is it possible to buy a welded shaft to match and just replace the shaft and seals? I see bare shafts for sale but none with the welded tube on the end for the 1" pin.
I did find some Magister cylinders that were close. Found one that was the same except it has a 1.5" shaft instead of the 1.25 shaft I have. Also, they say the shaft is 33" compressed and 57" extended which seems to be 1" different than mine. I know I will need to replace both of the cylinders to get them to work in sync. Price would be $243 a piece.
What would you experts do?
Thanks,
Alan
