Purchased a set of 48 inch 4000 lb. pallet forks with the new tractor, they are Mahindra brand. Is there a trick to getting them to slide? I flip up the locks and try to slide the forks and it almost impossible to get them to move, any suggestions on how I can free them up a bit?

A well greased track helps a lot.

My forks have a lift and turn pin to release them. The track must be well greased, forks off the ground, lift and turn release pins and push (or slide) forks from near the top. mine move fairly easy even though they weigh close to 100# each.

I don't have those forks, and this is just an idea, but to slide my forks easily I lift up on the fork with my left hand and slide with my right hand. It is very easy to slide when I lift and extremely difficult to slide if I don't lift up on the fork. Again my forks are not the same, and this is just something to try... No guarantee.:)

Raise the arms. Tip the forks forward almost to vertical. Should slide easy.

I bought the Kubota OEM forks and then didn't slide well at all. Greasing, oiling, graphite imbedded paint, nothing worked.

So I noted where they bound on the frame and went at them with a grinder. They work great now.

Thanks for the suggestions. Tried WD40, that helped a bit. Will try the grease next, but may have to take the suggestion from gwdixon because they seem awfully tight at the top and bottom. Footer200, you are a genius, that is the way to roll (or slide).

I rub paraffin wax or an old candle on the mating parts on mine to move the forks easier. I think it works better than grease. Grease just gets smeared around, collects dirt and gets all over everything.
