i pulled down my massey 35 with the standard 23c deisel engine as it was really burning oil. upon teardown i foun that a oil piston ring land had broke which was causing the oil problem. i decided at this time to do a rebuild with new liner etc. I noticed at this time also that the old liner were from .002 below the head to .001 above and i should mention also that prior to the teardown ther was no overheating or any excessive blowby or any noise.. upon getting the new liner i find that i have 2 at .002 above, one flush and one at .001 belowthe head as opposed to the .001-,004 that it calls for . I know that the preferred method is to deck the block and so on but there has GOT to be an easier way. i have tried to find some shims but with no luck so if anyone has an idea it would be a lifesaver sam
