Massey GC2400 drive train issues

Howdy. I have a Massey GC2400 (740 hrs) and the other day when I pulled it out of the barn it started clicking and then started locking up the drivetrain.
It would sometimes go 2 or 3 feet in either direction and sometime 5 to 10 feet before it would completely stop. It has a mechanical sounding click, clank, etc.
I found out that if I put the FEL bucket down to raise the front end of the ground that I could slowly drive it back to the barn.
Is this a common problem with the GC2400s?
Also; I noticed the PTO shaft doesn't spin no matter which position I put the PTO lever in. It's a hydrostatic drive so it has no foot pedal clutch to engage the PTO. I don't use the PTO so I don't know for sure if it's involved also.

I would check the universal joints in the drive shaft that goes to the front axle. Would also try shaking drive shaft side to side or up and down to verify font axle input bearings are ok. These went out on my Branson and would randomly lock up the front axle.

Pulled the stub axle front driveshaft. Gear stripped. Don't know if the locking up caused the gear to strip or not. I don't think this stripped gear would have caused the clicks and clanks that I was hearing though.

If gear is stripped where did the teeth go. Possible they worked there way into other gears

Bigger question is what caused that gear to fail?

On mine the input shaft bearings went bad so dealer replaced the whole front axle assembly under warranty since they were concerned that all the debris went through the whole axle.
