Hi All,

Looking for a mid-compact utility mowing tractor. One of the local dealers carries Mahindra so I'm giving them a shot. Looking at the website, the max28 is less than the 26 for some unknown reason so I'll go with the higher HP unless people here know something I don't. I'm going to be running a 6 foot Land Pride rear discharge 3pt finish mower.

Questions:

1) What is the true lift capacity in real world terms for the 3 points on these? They list link end figures but as we know, most implements stick out past the link ends.

2) How responsive is the hydrostat system when making direction changes? Jumpy or a smooth motion? Is it noisy?

3) How stable is the tractor with either R3 or R4's? Does it need loaded tires to feel stable?

4) Would you buy yours again or would you go with a different brand and why or why not?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

I have a Max25. I looked at all the tractors for years before I finally bought mine last year. Absolutely don't regret this at all.

The Max28 is last years model and a Tier 3 EPA standards tractor. The Max26 is brand new model and a Tier 4. As I understand it they detuned the Max28 motor to make it more compliant with the new standards. So you're probably better off if you cans still find a Max28.

I'll let others answer the rest of your questions.

You need to match your attachments to the PTO HP and to the tractor size. It will lift way more attachment than the tractor can utilize. Don't stress over this.

Very smooth and no noise at all.

3) How stable is the tractor with either R3 or R4's? Does it need loaded tires to feel stable?

Very stable. Loaded tires will make it even more stable.

Love it. No regrets. I have 52 hours on it in 3 months.
Clearing about an acre of thick woods with it. Get a piranha tooth bar for it and you can pop 6" trees straight out of the ground, roots and all.
Neighbor laughed at me for trying to clear the woods with a 28HP tractor. I am 1/2 done and anything larger you would never be able to maneuver in the trees.
Only problem is that it works so well, my burn pile is the size of a tractor trailer.

I just bought a 3016. Nice well made machine.

Mahindra didn't get to be the largest tractor manufacturer in the world by selling junk.
