Me So Horny... Adding a horn to a BX25

Been wanting a horn on the BX for a while. It will be handy for signaling especially considering the kids are usually around when the tractor is running.

Not a particularly complicated install. It was more about finding a sutable location for the components than doing the actual work.

Price was right, Princess had the horns on sale for $12.xx and the switch was in PA Surplus for about $4. So a horn for under $20 is a pretty good deal in my eyes.

First was to find a home for the horn.

The horn is a Made in USA Fiamm "Freeway Blaster" :laughing: unit. 12V 130 dB "Freeway Blaster" High Tone Horn | Princess Auto

I tried lots of locations on the BX to mount, but a BX is pretty cramped. The best place I found was up near the headlights on the bonnet. It was a perfect fit. When the hood was closed it just cleared the crossmember and the lift strut

Fortunately the bonnet mounting bolts are grounded, so that meant an easy 1 wire install.

Now that the horn is properly mounted, that leaves finding a suitable place for the switch. Easier said than done on the compact dash of a BX!

The Switch.

After much trial, I found a great mounting spot near the headlight switch. Its between the headlight switch and the orbital (Steering) hydraulic valve. As you can see, its tight!! That brass in the upper right is the switch terminals.

Pulled power from the existing fused and switched circuit that powers my aux worklights.

End result looks Factory. I think its the perfect location!. If I was going to spend more money on the job, id consider the actual factory turn/headlight switch assembly from Kubota from the B series(?) that has a horn button in the centre, but I think for the price, this should work excellent.

Cool, I've thought about doing this too. Good to know where I can get the parts, and where to mount the switch.

Nice install.
One thing I do miss from the MF1020 to the new B2920 is the horn. I never thought on how much I used it until it was gone.

You got me thinking. I do like the horn on my B3030. I used to have a boat and carried an air horn for distress. I was going to give it to my father-in-law who has problems with bears eating his bird seed. In a pitch, I bet it would work good as a horn on the BX-25.

Nice job on the horn and the how to. I also thought about the B-series switch but I bet it is pricey and you would need a pig tail for it.
