MF 1030 worth, lookout for???

My buddy is looking at a used low hour(500) MF 1030 collar shift?, 2wd, turf tired tractor. He asked for my opinion but I have experience with JD's only, I found a little information online but not much. He will be using for light mowing, some 3 point implements, he only has 20 acres and most is in wheat so very little use. Anything to lookout for? Parts available? Limitations? Help? Around 5k is what they are asking. Thanks. Owen.

I have the MF 1040 fwd, for the past 1 1/2 years, with little problems. My machine has just shy of 1400 hrs on it. I bought it with 1340 hrs and other than changing all fluids and filters and new front tires, have done little else to it. Oh, I replaced the fuse panel to solve my lighting problems. All filters and parts readily available from NAPA or other online sources. My machine came with a 6ft loader MF 232. I have since bought 5ft Woods Bush hog and 6ft grader blade King Kutter. I paid $6000 for the tractor, the seller was asking $8000. There is a picture of the tractor in the photo section. Your machine is a little smaller, 3000 lb and 23 pto hp. If you have any other questions I will be glad to help.
