MF 220

Hi there all MF 220 owners. I also recently bourght a 220 needed something small to cut grass. This was the perfect size and still in good condition at agreat price of R1500 (South African Rand)
The only problem I have is that the PTO has a problem. There is a SPRAG bearing in the bottom of the transmission that keeps slipping, It is worn and needs replacing. Would like to know if where I could find a new one, I do not even have a part number to start working from except the numbers
CX 2380-4 stamped on the bearing.
Great to know there are still other 220's around, South Africa also saw some.

I own a MF 220. You are right. It is hard to find parts. Right now, I need to find a starter. Will I be able to find one, or should I have this one rebuilt?

arno... dont bother trying to get a bearing thru any tractor sources, you will probably save money, frustration, and time using the bearing number you have and search the net or your local bearing supply. This is mostly true if the bearing you are replacing is not completely ruined, and you can get ACCURATE measurements and numbers/letters from it. Most all companies that design and build just about anything from tractors to exercise equipment draw up the blueprints to use current bearings that are readily available through bearing manufacturers. Therefore the bearing you seek for a 25+ year old tractor just may be a bearing used in a commercial food mixer from this decade. See what i mean? ...... If all that fails with no luck this link may help, and i know of a few that have been looking for a whole engine for a 220. All States Ag Parts has salvaged a Massey Ferguson 220 Tractor for used Tractor parts. Call 877-530-4430 for parts. I am in no way related to this business (not even sure what state in u.s. they are in) just ran across it looking for parts myself, and thought i would help out anyone else in need. ..............................As for the starter, have it rewound or repaired locally, as these are hard to find, and expensive when you do. Sometimes they only need new bushings and bearings to avoid armature drag, and this is a cheap fix.
