Tractor
Kioti DK45SE
I came across a few articles on some mid-size ag tractor articles that were of special interest to me as the fit right in the size and hp level where I would like my next tractor to be. I have given JD a once or twice over but they have never really tickled my fancy, mainly on price I guess. On the other hand, I have been more than impressed with the updated NH's and absolutely love the new 54xx MF's. Case's, I have not looked at first hand but I would expect them to be similar to the NH's. The Kioti is a decent first effort for them and my current DK45 has been great so far but for a "big" ag tractor my local dealer won't be able to handle my needs I am afraid . . . that and you can't overlook the amenities of the class leaders.

Some fine tractors out there for sure. Since you've throw the Montana in there I have to ask how big you're looking to go? Both TYM and Mahindra will be releasing bigger tractors soon. The TYMs go as high as 100 hp while Mahindra's new one will be 85.
I was very surprised to find both the Case IH and New Holland reasonably priced. Don't overlook the DK 90 all indications are it's a hoss.

I included Montana because it was in the "group" of articles. It is however a good looking machine. I would do a second Kioti, in my case a DK90, but my dealer likes to keep my machines for 4-5 days when in for minor service. Not an option during hay or seeding season. I will most likey be going the MF or NH route from what I have seen so far it will probabaly be a slightly used unit.

Nice articles. What do you plan on doing with it?

Most manufacturers have something to fit just about any application.

Dealer support makes a big difference in my book.

Dealer support is indeed key. The MF dealer is about 14 miles away. I have only dealt with them for implements so far and they were always willing to put stuff together and have it ready for me if I was indeed coming the next day. We would be using it for hay production and pasture maint. Much of my buying choice is also planning for future use so I may buy slightly bigger than I acutally need right now. For example, we were targeting something in the 75-80pto hp range but if I can swing it I will go up to a 90-100 pto unit.

I can't help but think about price being your concern. Same as me. It would be nice to post pricing for these units as you go about shopping for a tractor.

Here is Deere's answer to the price problem on this size tractor.
