Could anyone experienced with middle busters tell me the normal safe ground clearance for the bottom of them when the 3 point is on the highest position?
Santa brought me a KingKutter yellow middle buster and I am afraid that I will need to exchange it for their XB model. When I have it lifted as high as it will go, the bottom is only about 2 to 3 inches off of the ground and I'm afraid that this is not correct.

I have 1 but so far havn't put it on the 1 thing in my favor is I have the cheap harbor freight quik hitch which extends the 3 pt about 5 inches with the coresponding height increase my 5' rear blade looks like 2.5 ft up if the weather holds this week end will take blade off and mount mid buster and report. nothing else put on when close to use???? Guess more money than brains sub soiler look even longer so was going to buy just blade and switch as needed also am going to start putting washers inside lyntch pins to stop breaking

Now you have me worrying!

One advantage with your set up is that you can get some pretty good depth out of it before your draft arms bottom out. Looks like you will have to tighten up your top link if you are going to get any work out of it. That or course will lower the tip of your buster closer to the ground and snagging a concrete walk on you way to work will porbably not make your day. Think the best thing is to trade it for a shorter on unless you want to mod it or get taller rear tires for your orange machine:rolleyes:

I have the KK XB subsoiler that I use with my B7510HST. In the full up position, the tip is about 5-6 inches off the ground. Haven't had any problem with this clearance so far.

If you can get it to where you want to start the digging it makes it all the better. You can dig deeper.. Many folks welded extensions on the mainframe to get it to dig deeper. If it works for you, use it.. Hook it up when you get to where you want to start to dig and it should work well. I used to take little bites over the same area and on the final run give it the pedal and it clears the ditch quite well...

I guess it depends on what you are going to use it for: do you need the extra-heavy duty or will the XB suffice.

In your profile you say your place has lots of hills so that clearance might be an issue just trying to get to where you want to be with it mounted.

BTW I see you bought your tractor at Burks, where are you located? I am over Meridian, ID way.

For transport you can disconnect your toplink and swing the buster up to your hitch and secure it there for transport and then hook back up the top link when you get to where you are going.

I've read that some Middle-busters and Sub-soilers have shear-pin protection. Does your TSC MB have a shear pin?.

I use a KingKutter XB Middlebuster on my TC18 and at the highest position it is about 6" off the ground. The only trouble I've had with it is I bent the PTO guard when I was digging a trench with it. I take the guard off to dig trenches now. You can see a pic of it in my photo gallery. I'm not sure how to link it to this post.

I ended up returning the full size KK middle buster and ordered their XB. They do not have a shear pin on either of them.
